What did I just buy ?

Mart, the serial numbers matched. Both were 87HC*102xxx. My understanding is that the "C" indicated a 1/2 ton truck. But its a 121 inch wheelbase with 8 lug wheels. I'm confused...

Thank you all for the help. I went out between thunderstorms and put a little more elbow grease on just the right spot. Out popped the Serial Number !!

Thanks Alan for the info. I'll dig a little deeper on the passenger side frame rail. Hi Marcus !! Long time no see... Miss Chicken is doing well and yes it is very wet down here in the swamp. With more rain on the way, please keep a light on for me. Dad and I bought this new truck and it...

What did I just buy ?

Thanks Mart. I was able to decode the Cab's serial number and found out that I purchased was an F-1 Cab bolted to a heavy duty frame. I'd like to find out what year the frame was made. Both numbers are stamped very nicely. I assumed they are stamped by a machine.

Thanks TJ for the reply. I went out and looked in your location and didn't find anything there. I did find a number on the Frame Brace for the Driver side Motor Mount. That number is 21C 5087B

I believe I need some professional help. In more ways than one !! I purchased what I believed was a 1948 F-2 or F-3 truck. I have found most of the serial numbers and believe I have most of them decoded. But this Frame number is giving me fits. I've looked for 3 days and now I give up. I...

    1951 F3 Truck

Looks like you have a good start. I'm always checking EBAY. Just Last month someone had some F-3 fenders out there. They are around and you can find them if you keep looking. I agree with truckdog, research those 17" "widow maker" wheels. They are bad news. Good luck and welcome to the...

    Identify Distributor?

Very nice project !! Are you truly restoring it as she was or rebuilding it to race. There are a few groups out there still racing these ole cars with the flatheads. We restored ours as she raced in 1960. Down here we had 3 basic classes of race cars back then. The A-Modifieds or Super...

To restore or not to restore; that is the question!

You are honored to receive the car. Honor your Grandfather by driving it. Get involved with a local car club. Take the car and your Grandfather out to some local shows. You both will meet a LOT of wonderful people and have a ball !! It's not about winning a car show, it's about making memories.

    Melling HV oil pump

I take it you disagree !! To each his own. H/V Oil Pumps may have a place in some applications. Not in my stock or stroker Flatheads.
