    Sandblasting

Yes to "OldBlueOval" Strip the paint and old fillers first. Then you'll have less of a chance of damaging the sheet metal. The black grit for sandblastng works well or if you want something finer use glass bead.

    Wood Kits for 1930 Cabriolet

We have just finished the floor of a early 31 68-B CAbriolet. Plan on spending time to make everything fit properly. The floor pieces weren't to bad but the "B" pillars were not even close. Every piece will need to be hand fitted. Just a heads up. But it sure looks good when it's done. The...

General Question on Paint and Body Work Costs

Thanks Brent: Things well said. I'm in Canada and just the materials to do the body and paint on a Model A is between $5000.00 and $7000.00. Then add 1200 hours to that at $75.00/hr. I stopped into a former students shop and they where repainting a 2025 Chevy Pickup that had be vandilized...

    Selling a car

Things are slowing down and people are tightening up there spending. I would say the first thing to do is get a true value on the car. I was a appraiser for 10 years and what I would do is look for 5 comparable vehicles. Same mileage, condition body style etc. then average that out. You may not...

    Armored cable woes...

You said when you have the cable unscrewed from the dist. you have power at the tip of the connector. But when you connect the cable to the dist. you have no power. So something is going to ground. I would say the wire inside the cable is shorting. hook up the wire for continuity and shake the...

    Making Roadster More Narrow

The door posts have moved over time. Quite common on open cars. Because you didn't hammer the brackets that go to the floor on the door posts. The metal went back to were it was. The formula for metal repair is "Directive + Release = Flow" so you had the directive, the straps pulling the top of...

'30 Model Sport Coupe Rumble seat opening not square

Check the diagonal measurement of the opening and check for square. The opening is wider at the top than the bottom so the trick is to get the opening square first and then fit the deck lid to the opening. Hopefully you have an original deck lid and hinges. If the opening is out of square than...

Removing a wheel well in 1929 driver's side front fender.

You should be able to use the fender as a repair panel. just cut the panel out of the fender where it the right shape. Do you have a pattern maker with all of the fingers on it? That's a easy way to check. If not just use a piece of cardboard to make a pattern off the fender radius. I found...

    Hood alignment after new radiator

I had the same problem with a 30-31 Brassworks rad. it was 1/8" to high. And yes the frame was straight. I put thinner rubber under the rad and ovaled the holes in the rad shroud to get the hood down. It bugs me because the original fit with excellent gaps.
