Auto Restorer magazine is belly up

Seems a lot of magazines are going by the wayside lately. With cover prices approaching $10 I'm not surprised.

    Don't mess with my quail

The thermo quail cap on our '28 coupe has evidently leaked before we got the car because it had silicon sealant between the base and the bird. Occasionally it would spit out a little water. The other day someone messed with it, knocking off part of the sealer, and I believe breaking off a couple...

time for new starter brushes I suppose

Thanks, but I now believe that the starter is ok. I have started the car several times yesterday and today and all seems well. I think a visitor, possibly by accident, fully advanced the timing the evening before I tried to start the car and had trouble, and I failed to notice and retard it. I...

time for new starter brushes I suppose

I reinstalled the battery this morning and the car starts fine. It was pretty cold the other day when I tried and failed to start it but I might have done something stupid like failed to retard the timing, though I usually retard it each time I turn the car off. I could have had a senior moment...

hoping I have a single disc clutch

I will be removing the starter from our early '28 Coupe tomorrow to get it rebuilt. The engine block has been replaced at some point with a '30 model block. I hope the early multi-plate clutch was swapped for a single disc when the engine block was changed. I will be looking, trying to figure...

time for new starter brushes I suppose

A couple of days ago when I tried to start our '28 Coupe it turned slowly as if the battery was very low. I tried charging the battery today and had it checked to find it was good and fully charged. It is still 6 volt but has been cranking fine, till now. I suppose tomorrow I will remove the...

Ford Model A Coolant Overflow Tank

Someone had rigged up an overflow on our '28 Sport Coupe when I bought it by attaching an anti-freeze jug to the firewall with wire ties and connecting a hose. I removed it on the way home and deposited it in the first recycling bin that I saw.

    pinto engine on model A

Best solution would be... get a Pinto with a Pinto engine in it. And drive the Pinto.
