    ‘30 Coupe Visor Trim Install

Re: ‘30 Coupe Visor Trim Install I was able to get the visor trim installed without any issue. Turns out that I didn’t really need to put any nails in the very ends where there was no wood anyhow. I didn’t want to risk damaging anything by trying to fully close the ends of the trim so there’s...

Model A oil blow by from oil filler tube cap

Looks like a cheaper solution than the NOS oil cap baffle that I found. It does work though.

    ‘30 Coupe Visor Trim Install

Re: ‘30 Coupe Visor Trim Install I’ve decided to put the top decking and visor trim on before paint just in case something goes south. Worst case I can go to plan B and put regular hidem on it after paint. I definitely could have put a shim in on the ends of the header had I thought of that...

    ‘30 Coupe Visor Trim Install

Re: ‘30 Coupe Visor Trim Install The replacement header wood was either not of the correct dimensions or the existing roof sheet metal was not in the right place, which is probably more likely. It took a lot of sanding and shaping of the curves on either side to get it to fit. There is about...

    ‘30 Coupe Visor Trim Install

‘30 Coupe Visor Trim Install I’m finishing up a windshield header and visor replacement on a previously molested ‘30 coupe. I almost have it ready for paint but I have major concerns about installing the visor trim molding afterward. The idea of hammering the ends of the molding closed scares...

    Kingpin Bushing O.D. and Length

It’s a good name to really confuse people at the gas station when they ask what it is. They always look baffled and ask “Who made it?”. I probably could tell them it’s a Purple Unicorn and they’d have no idea whether I was lying or not.

    Kingpin Bushing O.D. and Length

Thank you. Sounds like the diameter will work for my application. They’re 1/16” shorter than my existing bushing but that shouldn’t affect anything. I could have new ones made but when Ford bushings are readily available and $20, it seems like the way to go.

    Kingpin Bushing O.D. and Length

I’m looking for the outside dimensions of standard A kingpin bushings. My ‘31 Hupmobile also uses 13/16” kingpins but kits for it are unobtanium. My pins are in good shape but I need bushings and was hoping I could adapt the Ford parts to fit my spindles.

    Air Maze

And despite the fact that Ford sold them, half the folks on this forum will tell you that rare NOS air maze filter should be thrown in the trash because “Ford never intended for them to have an air filter”. :)

    Frame question

Okay so there’s no question it has a small diamond in it. Just keep in mind that 1/8” in a cross measurement is probably only 1/16 or maybe 3/32” that the rail is actually back. If anyone can tell that difference in the gap between the bumper and the body from side to side, they’re Superman.

    Frame question

People would be surprised to hear that most frames back in the day were literally straightened by eye using centerline gauges. Three or four of them are hung down the length of the frame and you sight down the center pins just like aiming a rifle with open sights. It’s actually more accurate...

    Frame question

Jay Jay - when you measured your cross measurement did you only go from the very ends of the rails or did you also check it between the center crossmember mounting points? If the diamond still shows up when you check only the center section of the rails, then one is in fact further back than the...

    Frame question

I personally wouldn’t worry about 1/8” difference in your criss-cross measurement. Even our modern 3D electronic measuring system will say that within 3mm on a given measuring point is within tolerance. 1/8” “diamond” wouldn’t really affect the suspension on an A because because the wishbones...

    Original woodgrain touch up/sealing

Yes, if doing a complete redo of the woodgrain with modern paint, urethane clear is the way to go. Just can’t put it over lacquer is all.

    Bent-er door

Ouch! That one looks very fatal.
