    Crab Style Distributor Help

Hi, I have a '48 Flathead which has a front mounted, crab style distributor. It has been retrofitted with a Pertronix Electronic Module (replacing the points). My first question is regarding the Vacuum Brake - what does this do and do I still need it with the electronic module? My...

    39 Pickup Cab Mounting

Just out of curiosity, some of the bolts (in the center of the cab) have no springs while the bolts at either end have springs. How is this supposed to work? I would have thought solid throughout or springed throughout. George

Bolts for Pickup Box to Frame (1939)

Thanks for everybody's input... I've decided to TIG weld a set of bolts for my truck. I can get the exact length I need and use fine thread "donor bolts". I will fab up a little "jig" to ensure they are straight. I can get Grade 5 Carriage Bolts which should suffice. Cheers, George

Bolts for Pickup Box to Frame (1939)

Thanks to all of you for your help - BTW, I talked to Mike and although they used to sell these (they were in the old Roy Nacewicz catalogue) he had to discontinue them as they were almost impossible to source / manufacture for a reasonable price. Cheers, George

Bolts for Pickup Box to Frame (1939)

Hi All, I am hoping someone here can help me out... The box on my 1939 P/U rests on boards which are bolted to the frame. In between the boards and the frame, the truck uses Wooden cross members which raise the box up off the frame at the front and at the rear. I believe carriage...

    39 Pickup Cab Mounting

Hi All, Does anyone have pictures of the correct way to mount a 39 Pickup Cab to the frame? I bought the correct wood (which seems to fit properly to the bottom of the cab) and I bought the bolt kit from Ray N. I am interested in any additional insulation that was used and the...

    Question for ‘39 pickup experts

Re: Question for ‘39 pickup experts Hmmm, I've been considering Not Using the outer trim ring and centre bar that came with my '39 Pickup. I was going to list it in the want ad section after I finish my project - don't usually sell anything until it is all done. Not sure I want to sell just...

    Pressure Plate

I ordered a replacement clutch from RAM and they sent me a three finger design (like number two). I believe the original clutches were three finger design, but I can't say that for sure. The three finger design uses the centrifical force of the spinning clutch to add pressure to the pressure...

    Oil Pan Baffles?

I watched this YouTube Movie last night about the Flathead V8 and it's story. It was a good show, but they talked about some of the problems Ford encountered with the 1932 Engine, one of which was oil control. Apparently (according to the show), the early V8 would suffer from oil starvation...
