On my (November) 1928 roadster, (ex-California), the number was in the usual place under the left-hand cowl, but also on the top of the chassis right-hand rail, just ahead of the body. It looks to be an original stamping.

If it's of any use, here's photo that shows the positions of the clips on my 28. I used a thin flat panel-clip tool to lever-up the clips

Re: Favorite LED Headlight’s? I'm in UK, & have recently fitted the pre-focused LED's, bought in UK (LogoLights in USA?) into my 1928 A-roadster. Attached (hopefully) is a night photo of the beam, although I've not yet properly aligned them. Very impressed!. The car is 12v, with original fluted...
