    Offset male dovetails

I had a problem with the driver's side door lining up to the dovetail on my '36 3W. I made a shim for in back of the bottom hinge, which lifted the door, so it lined up fine with the dovetail. As I recall, the shim was much thinner than I thought it would be, and I made 2 or 3 shims before I...

    mate

First of all, have you done anything to determine where the "slop" is coming from? Is it in the steering box itself or in any of the various connectors from the steering box to the front wheels, or ????

How many of you do your own work?

I've done everything myself (i.e. no professional involved) with occasional help from a friend working along with me. Only exception was plating and upholstery.

loss of a vintage ford expert

Tom gave me my first ride in an antique car, a Model T Ford. That was back about 1962 and we had been friends ever since. Nice guy and very knowledgeable. He'll be missed.

Mismatched Head Light Glass in 1936 Fords

Good eye! If you have the EFV8 book, "1936 - '35 Fords", there is a section dealing with the two different headlight lenses that Ford used

    36 sheet metal alignment

Do you have the radiator mounted in the right holes? As I recall, there are two sets of holes for the radiator to mount on - one set for cars, one for trucks, but I don't recall which were which. I also recall having to adjust the rods to get a proper fit.

Insufficient Hardness of New Lifters & Cams

Not surprised. Many companies are importing cores from off-shore companies. My son-in-law worked for a well known aftermarket cam, crank, etc., company and told me their reject rate For out of tolerance hardness, was near 50%. They had to go to 100% inspection. So much for the cost savings of...

    '36 Door Remote Spring

My '36 coupe came to me without the spring in the door mounted remote, in either door. Before I tear into it, I'd like to see how the spring is mounted / attached in the triangular housing. Does anyone have a diagram or picture of the spring mounted in the housing, that they would share? I'd...

'36 Back Roll-Down Window Install Questions

Thank you for your reply. I'll give it a try today and see how it goes. I have a couple of rods in my back from recent back surgery and it's difficult for me to bend like I used to do. Having an idea of what to do helps me limit the necessary time required to contort into positions I...
