Torsion Rod ends / Drag Link Steering Arm end

Remember, the drag link ends are different. The pittman arm end is different from the other end. The drawings show this but they don't notate it. The tie rod ends are the same. Regards, Stew

    Identify These Shocks

Here is a better picture. The shock says Made in Chicago and has numbers on it but doesn't Have "Houdaille" I was just curious if Ford was actually making shocks or just having the logo stamped on. Regards, Stew

    Horn problems

Both of the brush holders should be isolated from the horn frame ! If you look on the Brattons website they show an expanded diagram of the horn. There are fiber washers between the brush holder and the frame and a small rubber cone washer on the screw that isolates the mounting screw that...

    Slow turn over

I had a similar issue. I took the starter out and cleaned the brushes and armature. The starter completely came back to life. In my case, the inside of the starter was filthy. Remember the starter is below the oil fill cap. Over time, oil blow-by mist can accumulate on the starter and cause...

Sudden rough running, out of ideas

My 31 was running rough. It began to really run badly after about five minutes. I initially swapped the distributer and carb with no change. I changed out the coil and it ran perfectly. Coils can be finicky as they heat up. Just a thought.

    Body Wood Suppliers

I just replaced the top wood on my 31 Tudor. I used the classic wood kit. The header, the rear corners and the top bows need to be sanded down a bit to fit properly. I used a small right angle air sander. It's not particularly difficult, but it is time consuming. Les Andrews install...

    Tudor top tribulations

I just replaced the top wood in my 31 Tudor. The metal cross piece was pretty tight when I put it in place. I had to tap it in place with a mallet. Regards, Stew

    Installing a Mitchell Overdrive

I also just installed a Mitchell overdrive in my 31 Tudor. I built a rolling mount with two connected dollies to support the rear axel and the front of the torque tube. There are several versions I have seen. This dollie makes the installation much easier. Also you need two thin wrenches to...

    Prayers needed Lost my Son

Dear Wick, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this most difficult time. As I read through all of the posts in response to the loss of your son, it occurred to me, most of us on this forum have never met face to face. We share a common interest but more importantly we...

    30/31 Brake light switch

Ken, Sometimes the post on the switch binds when it hits the plunger. Here is an easy fix that I got from another Fordbarn member. I've done it and it works. Thread the shaft 10-24 I think. (choose appropriate die). Then screw on a nylon insert lock nut flush with the top of the shaft. The...
