Hi everyone,
I am just getting a power train rebuild going on a 57 Merc 312. I seem to have a problem getting spark. I changed out the points to a Pertrinix module, and the recommended coil also. With the key off and grounding to the negative on the battery and checking the positive side of...
Hi,
I am looking for a temp sensor and a oil pressure sending unit for a 1956 Mercury 312. Both are the ones that have the two contact blades coming out the top. I am able to find a temp sensor at Mac's but it is $51.00, seems a bit high to me.
Anyway if someone has a good supply house I...
Well I installed the thing back there beside the distributor it for sure fit but it covers a bolt hole. and I am not sure if I may have it backwards or something. I attached a picture for a little advice if possible.
Also, you know how one thing seems to lead to another. I have this crooked...
I checked the timing pointer and it fit right up, while there i took a couple pictures of the rear of the block behind the intake. Looks like a fit. hopefully I will be dropping it in soon to check out how it functions a little better. I'm still a little confused on that part.
I'm not sure about the horn mount. This came back to me in a box from the machine shop that did the engine so this was bolted to the engine somewhere i have to assume.

Hi All,
I am in the middle of a Merc Montclair power train project. I am finishing off all the pumps and bolt-ons, before dropping it in. I thought I was covered by taking a lot of pictures before I dis-assembled the thing. I guess I missed on taking some pictures of the motor mounts. They...
Well KULTULZ, I'm probably a bit on the clueless side of this so I appreciate the advice. I assume the pinion and axle seals have set and dried out and need replaced.
I don't have any experience with replacing either of them, so I will need to get googled up on how to go about it. I know it...
Thank you everyone for the advice, I got it cleaned out last night. Wow what a mess I thought the carb cleaner would thin it down to the point of being runny, and the goo would drain out. I was wrong, it did free it up off of the parts and get it in the bottom of the housing. Then I could...
