I also posted about this issue a couple months back and realized I said I would give an update. It's fixed. Two - maybe 3 factors in play to fix the issue.
1. Engine has a hi comp head, B cam & 0.100 overbore. May want a slightly richer mix in general, but not a huge difference.
2. Float...
Hershey, you will love. A stuff everywhere but I would do Chocolate North first. We do that and then Green where the Packard guys hang out. We just sent our activity card in this week but spaces are TBD. Will be cool to try vending a bit this year; will definitely have some Model A stuff...
Yeah also disappointed Tams pulled out early as well. Had a list...
Going to a traditional hot rod swap Sunday here in Central CT. Will be interesting to see what shows up for stock Model A.
Good luck but also a smart move IMO. BaT results continue to be strong. I think today's price on the tan roadster was fair on both ends. Car presents well but glass fenders and a 30 gas tank aren't small things to correct. I suspect the blue one will do better. Will be interesting to see if...
Ronn totally agree. BaT is a resource but not the only source. That coupe wasn't a $20k car in my mind either.
I get the fact the audience may be new to Model As but find it hard to believe they all are. Honestly I was as surprised the "experienced A guy" on my last sale didn't buy as the...
A lot of good observations already here.
I sold my 30 Standard Roadster quickly but as said a strange market. My strategy was to price it around 15% under what I felt true value was. 1st guy was an A guy - we spoke on the phone, and I explained that while rust free it needed a lot of...
I can give you my builder's thoughts as I am not an expert mechanic but he is. Grooved. Also, just along related lines Babbitt is sufficient for up to 5.5 head if you're going that route. Rod bearings absorb more in general terms.
Good luck with it!
Gdmn852, Fordbarners in general are helpful!! Thanks all who took some time to respond!
Getting more active again now that we acquired our second roadster/3rd A - always my first go to with Ford questions.
I may just wait till I remove the windshield at this point - a good motivator to keep...
Right - so it threads into the cone area, has a stop or shoulder in the stud and then the windshield frame itself, right? Oh, I think I see now that is how the cone is held in place. Makes perfect sense but also tells me I cannot go nuts and really crank vice grips onto the threaded area too...
Thanks guys! Gdmn852, I can get my small vice grip on the thread but will need them really tight - do those threads thread into anything ? Prior owner had wingnut cranked on without any washer so yeah, it's bottomed out as you suggest.
Appreciate all the help!
