My repo shifter actually snapped while driving. I called up Bert's and ordered an original one. I had to restore the ball, but it is a much beefier piece of metal than the repo. I would call up Bert's and get one from them.
I bought gears from Dan McEachern out in CA on tb's advice. I have not had the chance to install them yet (school and all that), but they look amazing.
I went ahead and bought both, but you can just buy one or the other. One is bronze and the other is heat treated steel.
I installed seat belts recently in my '31 Roadster. I ordered the first two from Brattons and was very happy. When I installed the seat belts in the rumble seat, I ordered them from Snyder's (as I was ordering other stuff from them anyway) and was also happy.
The ones from Snyders came with...
I actually could not get insurance through Haggerty, JC Taylor, or any of the other collector car guys. They want every licensed driver in the household to have their own daily driver (which we do not). I ended up with SafeCo and think that it is a great policy, as they do not put any...
The spark plug is still sparking a nice, blue spark. Is there anything else that I should check with the spark plug? This is the reason I keep going back to the fuel getting into the cylinders.
I sprayed some starter fluid into the first cylinder and tried to start it, to no avail. I don't...
I am currently waiting for the battery to charge. Once that is done, I will try putting some starter fluid directly into the cylinder and starting. If that does nothing, I will go back to the spark.
I pulled the spark plugs again. The car is still getting a good, strong, consistent spark. This is why I was looking into the fuel system. I tried starter fluid, but it made no difference.
I did pass over the top of the engine compartment with a hose. I figured that it was no different than a light rain.
I do have a fuse on the starter. I took the fuse out and reseated it, but it seemed to be in there really well. All of my wiring connections still look to be clean, and they...
I checked for fuel at the carb and spark. There is fuel coming out of the line into the carb and the plugs still spark.
I tried taking the gas cap off. It did not seem to make a difference.
I had a really strange issue start yesterday morning. I was driving the car around the block to further get the hang of driving a stick and test the brakes and when I got back I parked it in the driveway. Since it was nice out, I washed the car and went inside. When I came back out, the car...
I just wanted to publically say thanks to tbirdtbird, who came down a couple of days ago to help me with my Roadster. He taught too many ticks to count and noticed several things that I needed to fix along the way of getting other things done (like the seals in my drums needed replacing)...
