    Mig welder question

Oh, another thing. The cleaner the materials the better, I clean my mig joints as good as I do my tig joints. Those processes are not as forgiving as smaw Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Mig welder question

If that doesn’t improve things, try looking into the ground connections, tip, liner( the slightest kink in it can alter some finicky machines) and the wire. If the wire has rust, grime, a fair amount of dust or grit, or even some bends can also hamper things Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If there is not sufficient gas flow, it may be one of your issues of not getting the hang of it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Mig welder question

Personally I would, being someone who used to do X-ray quality welds as well a lots of sheet metal work the proper gas flow is essential for a quality weld. Do you know what cfm it’s flowing at? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1956 fairlane engine knock and timing distributor

Yes the shaft was pushed as far down as it would go by hand, there wasn’t much wiggle room, maybe 0-1/16”. I haven’t taken anything apart yet either. I plan on doing the swap and tuneup in the next couple of weeks so I can also reference the original dist. At that time Sent from my iPhone...

That’s the only numbers that are cast into the dist. And that wasn’t a typo. From the bottom of the flange to the farthest edge of the gear is 4.908. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1956 fairlane engine knock and timing distributor

Sorry to jump in on your thread but it might help someone else also, but I’m wondering... I just got a motorcraft 12127 distributer to replace my 56 OEM distributer until I get the teapot referbed. From the flange down to the outer end of the gear it is 0.097 (minimum) too short. And there is...

Looking to install exhaust through bumper on 56 fairlane

Man, where do you find this stuff,I can’t find nothing like that info( on line anyway). Thank you. It looks like the pipe just goes into the tip. The muffler looks to be a OEM style( judging by the pics I have seen) so I guess there is a lot of free space from the outer diameter of the pipe to...

Looking to install exhaust through bumper on 56 fairlane

Thank you for looking into it. If it’s as simple as cutting off the bend in the pipe and sliding the tip over the smaller pipe and bolting the tip to the bumper, that would be easy. But if it’s not that way from factory,I’d have to change more out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
