What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

I mounted 4 new tires on my rims... only took 3 hours. I used the garbage bag method, which definitely works, because I forgot to put it on once and couldn't figure out for a bit why nothing was working. 40 degree tires just aren't as cooperative as I imaging warmer ones would be. I should have...

    Need Convertible Top Opinions

@danliveshere, Thanks for the links and the info. I never would have guessed that half-rolled-back is an option. That is a beautiful car you have there. I don't think mine will ever look that nice. Just hoping for a somewhat reliable runner at this point.

    Need Convertible Top Opinions

That's another great link mcgarrett. Thanks again. My current plan is to leave the top up until a hot sunny day in late spring/early summer. I will try giving the top a gentile cleaning and let it dry in the sun, and then try taking it down while it's still nice and warm (and hopefully...

    Need Convertible Top Opinions

Thanks for the link mcgarrett. I will be sure to keep that somewhere that I won't be able to find when I need it :p I appreciate the input from everyone. Anyone have a general ballpark what new tops cost? My google fu has failed me so for. The price might figure into how careful I am with it.

    1936 interior door handle

Looking for an interior door handle for a 1936 sedan convertible. Doesn't have to be pretty.

    Need Convertible Top Opinions

I finally hit the 10 post limit for posting images. People asked for pictures, so here is the car moving from my father's garage to mine, last fall.

What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

The Plan: put 4 new tires on the '36 The current tires are at least 70 years old, and not to be trusted. I got a set of Coker Excelsior tires, because they were the cheapest round rubber things I could find. I watched several videos and was confident I could install the new tires myself...

    Both kinda average

I don't know.... I'd definitely pay for one of them :p

@Automotive Stud, I like your idea. Maybe I will only put it up/down if there is a good reason to change it. @V8er, I tried, but because I don't have over 10 posts yet, the forum doesn't always let me post a picture yet. Maybe I will get over that with this thread, and if I do I will post some...

    Need Convertible Top Opinions

I could use some opinions on what to do with the convertible top. First some background info: I have somewhat recently become the owner of my family's 1936 sedan convertible. My great grandmother bought it new. It was then passed to my grandmother and then father before making its way to me...

What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

As a follow-up to my post last week, here is the door handle fixed with JB-Weld. I put it on a back door and moved the back door one to the driver door, which is the one that had broken. So far it is holding.

Does anyone know what this whole in the oil pan is?

I get a few drips from the cotter pin hole now and then. Where is the oil coming from? Rear main seal? What amount of oil leaking would be considered 'normal'?

Mart, that is a great idea. I don't have a lathe, but I will look around the garage to see if I can find something that will work. Do you think a spring clip (like the ones used on vacuum and fuel hoses) would work, or because they give they wouldn't be much of an improvement?

What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

Tubman, thanks for the positive result. It gives me hope. And I'll have a look at the Muggy-Weld stuff for a plan B. I thought about posting in the swap meet area, but I need to get my post count above 10 in order to be able to post there. It's one of the reasons I posted about something minor...

What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

Trying to repair a broken door handle with JBWeld. One broken piece is glued back on. Waiting until tomorrow to glue the other piece back on. Taking odds on this breaking on the first use. Plan B is to try brazing it back together, as it appears that nobody makes a repo door handle for '36.
