The best way to shorten a horn rod is to cut it in half and remove the length you want to get rid of. Then SILVER SOLDER it back together. It is plenty strong and a friend of mine just did one for me. Shortened a '36 Rod to fit a '34 Ford stock column length. CAUTION be sure to be careful...
