    Front tube shocks for 41

My setup looks like what oldskool has. I made my own brackets. Actually I think I used oldskool's pics to design mine. The hard part is the fact that lower mount is a taper fit.

Original shock absorbers vs tube type

I don't post very often... But I just put a set of tube shocks on the front of my 41 coupe and they ride about the same as my lever shocks did. I used a cheap set from OReily's for an early 60's econoline. The tube shocks I have on the rear are from NAPA and are really stiff.

8BA hard starting out of the gate.

Not sure if the 49 has an on/off ignition switch. If my flathead sits for a week or so, I hit the starter for about 3-4 cranks , turn the ignition switch on, full choke, three stomps on the loud peddle and hit the starter. Always fires right off. You just need to find the right way to tickle...

    Brake drum turning

Flatheadfan, I had the rear drums for my 41 turned at the Car Quest on 28th street. Its down at the east end near Cascade/I-96. You know, right where all the construction is now.

    41 ford patch panal

I believe the 41 fender has a cutout that matches up to the running boards. The 42-48 should be the same.

    Still No Fuel on Start-Up

My 41 does the same thing. I just hit the starter and let the engine turn over a couple times before I turn the ignition on. Gets the carb primed. Then I turn the ignition switch "ON", hit the starter again and it fires right off. My car does not get driven very often at all so I do this pretty...

41 ford front sway bar mount

Thanks for all the help guys. Looks like I have some serious work ahead to remove old parts. I'm sure it will be worth it with improved handling and less clunking.

    NGK Spark plugs

I believe you need to ask for an AB-6 or AB-7. I'm pretty sure the standard A series has been discontinued. You need an 18mm thread, they gave you 14mm.

Thanks Dick. How difficult is it to remove the perch pins? Thanks for the offer hotrodfreak but I have everything, just need to replace those bushings.

41 ford front sway bar mount

1940, thats the setup I have. The bar mounts to the swivel that mounts to the perch bolts. I'm looking for the stud the swivels mount to. There is no PN for this stud on any of those diagrams that I could find. 40fordpu, that is the information i was looking for. Please post your findings when...

BTT Anyone know how to rebuild a 41 ford swaybar setup?

41 ford front sway bar mount

I have a 41 ford business coupe and the front sway bar mounts are pretty much shot. I can find the bushings and the swivel mounts. My issue is the studs that go through the perch bolts that the swivels mount to. They are all floppy and loose. Can those be replaced? I can't find a part number...

    Battery leaking

Thanks guys. The voltage regulator is sending around 7 volts to the battery. I will probably end up getting a new battery. Its just strange that this one has been doing it since I bought it. I was using the same brand/style battery before this one and it never leaked. Hopefully after this last...

    Battery leaking

Hey guys. I have a 1941 ford, Stock flathead, 6v positive ground, I am running a standard 6v tractor battery from the local tractor supply. I have had the battery for about 4 years now. It always works, charges etc but it has always leaked water out from under the 3 caps. Enough that you can see...
