Leakless water pumps... is it me?

I've never had to remove the radiator to remove the water pump and I don't remove the head studs. Put a piece of cardboard between fan and radiator. Unbolt hood radiator support rods and lean radiator forward a bit. It's enough to remove the water pump. I also use the additional set screw on the...

    Gas Gauge Rebuild

James, I did this job last year. Buy the better gas gauge removal tool - steel as it grips better and you don't score up the nut. Its available on the US sites. Surprisingly, the angle on the holding tool was bent more on the one that comes with the aluminum option and it held on the outside...

    Oil Extractor

I used a Mityvac for 4 years after the drain plug solder ring weld failed and couldn't get the drain plug out. A medical issue kept me from doing a permanent repair until this year. The smallest hose provided by the Mityvac fits perfectly down the dip stick hole so no need to remove the fill...

    Oil pan plug repair/replace

Hmmm, was thinking same thing.....can't easily come out. And the insert threads aren't damaged, just can't get the drain plug out. Wondering now as nkaminar noted it might be better to get the original insert silver soldered in place which should then allow me to loosen the drain plug. Or at...

    Oil pan plug repair/replace

I think whatever repair method that I use, that tacking, TIG, or full brazing on the inside of the pan is needed to keep the insert from coming out and to give more area to lock it to the pan - as long as the method doesn't interfere or tilt the oil pump spring. I've got the pan super clean and...

    Oil pan plug repair/replace

My oil pan drain plug rotates with the soldered in ring, so can't remove the drain plug. I've miti-vac'd the oil out and have dropped the pan. The replacement drain plugs offered by several suppliers seem visually different than the one in the vehicle. Original seems to have lip inside the pan...

    Won't run

Make sure the coil to distributor wire is fully up in the coil and fully down in the distributor. I chased an issue like this.

    Original Model A keys

I'm not aware of any person in my area that cuts keys without a matching key. Is there someone that can cut 2 keys each A949 and A1542? I have both spare switches - boat anchors without a key. Thanks,

    Original Model A keys

Hi Gary, would you have A949 and A1542? In return I have B&S A1102 that I don't need.

    Front brake shaft Housing nut

Thanks both of you. Could not find the brattons plain nuts as shown on the first reply and the nicked threads likely the issue.

    Front brake shaft Housing nut

My friend has a early 30 Model A coupe and at a car show this weekend, he realized the nut is missing on the backside of the front brake shaft housing (spring perch area). Not the bottom castle nut, but the standard nut and washer as shown on judging pages 7-5. Earlier versions seem to indicate...

    Gas rust

Has anybody tried the 6% vinegar for 2-3 days? The motorcycle world uses this quite frequently. 2-3 days industrial vinegar, flush with water, spray and pour lots of WD40 at it repeatedly to suck up the water, use air to dry, more WD40 to stop flash rust etc. You can't roll the tank around if...

    backfire

Switch your coil to a known coil and make sure coil to distributor wire is all the way inserted. I had a coil that would run fine then after a few minutes driving backfire and stop. Once cooled off, would run again.
