Cam Timing question for the experts on Isky 1007B

No, I ended up being stuck with the cam and out the 315.00 I paid for a custom grind on a new blank. At the time, they told me they were out of new 8BA blanks and couldn’t grind me another even if they wanted to. To quote the guy I spoke (who I’m pretty sure wasn’t Ron) with I was “**** out of...

Cam Timing question for the experts on Isky 1007B

I just stumbled back upon this thread and saw the later replies to this. I’m especially interested in Ed saying they didn’t sell that anymore? The cam I got from a member here that was ground by Pete worked great! Pulled very strong In the 286” 8BA that I built. It pulled hard, had very good...

    Flathead / Ardun Question

I dont think there is anything specific about the sound of an Ardun compared to many other engines, but they sure are sweet.

6 volt change to 12 volt (pros and cons)

I can't think of any cons to switching to 12V other than doing the work to do it. However a 6v system works ok.

School me on early 24 stud flat heads

Thanks for the replies. I just built a 286 8BA motor for my Model A coupe that runs very strong, mostly I was wanting to know if these earlier motors are good to build up too or should I swap to a newer 59A or 8BA style Its a runner now but I havent driven the car yet its a bone stock car and I...

School me on early 24 stud flat heads

I just purchased a 40 coupe with all original drive train. I have 2 8BA cars now but I don't know what the differences are between the early and later flatty's other than the distributor and 2 piece valve guides. So what else is different and are these motors still good to build up? Thanks in...

Oil Pressure question on new 8BA

I thought of that too. My cam was ground at Delta and the card didnt have much info just the lash, grind number and opening and closings points to check so I called them they said unless other wise specified they would be standard. So I am assuming thats not the issue and it certainly didnt feel...

Oil Pressure question on new 8BA

Thanks for the input. Its a mechanical gauge, just a generic brand at that, but I have not checked it against another mechanical gauge to see if its acurate.

Oil Pressure question on new 8BA

Thanks Guys what a relief. It runs great (this is a 286 stroker I had a thread on here about) I couldnt be happier with the performance, it pulls really good and smooth power. I was just concerned about the pressure being a bit lower than I had hoped it would be.

Oil Pressure question on new 8BA

Fresh built 8BA, standard Melling pump, no oil filter mods. When hot the oil pressure is only about 7PSI at idle and 25-35 when cruising at highway speeds (2500 RPM's) and about 15- 20 or so in town at lower rpms( 1500-2000RPM's). The motor runs great. I've checked the oil for any metalic...
