That video was helpful. I have never seen a 3 brush generator before.
Tonight I reversed my ground polarity and. Polarized my generator accordingly. I installed a rebuilt generator and rebuilt voltage regulator.
I’m taking my old stuff to the auto electric shop to get tested. I couldn’t...
That’s what I plan to do but I think I need to re polarize the generator. I was trying to diagnose my issue first. Then install new generator and regulator.
This a 1953 ford customline club coupe. It has the battery hooked up negative ground. It always worked so I left it that way. Would I still ground the field terminal even if I have a negative ground? Also the regulator is a 3 relay. 1 current, 1 voltage, and 1 cut out. When I’m referring to...
I’m having some charging issues this year and previously I have not had any issues charging so the issue is not relayed to the way it’s wired but I just replaced the overdrive. My car has a negative ground so the information for testing the generator seems like it may not be exactly right.

Talked to Mac and got it all sorted. As mentioned above the short ones are early. Pre 52 the extension was shorter and 51 earlier had a different foot mount and casting for the reverse lockout. The 51 has the reverse lockout switch casting but no switch.
Either way I ordered up gaskets and...
Is Mac the guy at Vanpelt? If so that’s who I planned to call today.
Yeah I was happy when I found out how many R10 ODs there were in the world when mine went kaput but there is also many changes that are hard to track down. So this makes me think that I have 2 pre 52 tail sections and one...
Trying to keep this simple so bear with me please.
I have a 53 custom line short roof coupe with overdrive. I few years ago it took a spectacular failure and totally destroyed the planatary gear. I’ve been trying to gather up parts over the past few years and now I’ve got whole gaggle of...
I should have ordered one from the start but I had found enough different resources online I thought I'd be fine. Turns out I was wrong haha. I will be calling today for sure though.
To update everyone I never did resolve this issue. I attempted to use the old power vallve parts as well as tinkering with various settings and nothing resolved the problem. Only does it once it has had time to really warm up so I'm still stock on it being something with heat.
So I have a 53 flathead with a 3 on the tree and a Borg Warner r10 OD. Everything worked great until. One day it suddenly dropped out of OD and made a horrible whining noise when the OD was mechanically engaged. I manually disengaged it and drove home normally. I recently removed the trans and...
The float valve is new but it's the rubber tipped type so that has me a bit worried. The entire fuel system is brand new from tank to carb and the the entire car was taken apart and ultrasonic cleaned all there shouldn't be much to get into the needle but rather than Blasing the in there I'm...
