Well the generator field wires began smoldering, got the generator off, opened up and stopped the glow with water, compressed air only made worse. Wiring was frayed and falling apart...This car only had 300 miles on it it the last 20 years, since I bough last year I've put close to 900 on it...

So just burned up my generator trying to get the charging system back up and running, (had replaced cutout with one from brattons w/diode) couldn't get any reading on the ammeter. Just wanting consensus on if now is the time to move to a Nurex alternator, another alternator, or rebuild the...

    Best Replacement Radiator

I think you will find that the Radiators that Snyders's and Bratton's sell (unless they state Brassworks) are most likely provided by Independent Antique Radiator Mfg. Inc. http://www.oldradman.com/ they list them as distributors, and the descriptions match up. I walked thru their facility in...

    Ground wire to Universal housing?

current project is attempting to fix Speedometer issue, (replacing Driveshaft bearing/sleeve, seal, thrust washer and snapring) to much slop and eating the speedometer drive gear. Universal joint cover was a b***h to get loose, in hindsight should have removed the floor boards and gone thru...

    Aluminum radiator

So I'll bump this back up, has anyone had a good experience with these cheap radiators? Mine is shot, radiator repair specialist told me he would boil out and rod it but given it's been repaired before said I wouldn't be happy and be wasting @$200+ bucks I could put towards a new one. Planning...

    Door Window replacment

Appreciate all the feedback, best results was with the hammer, evidently the prior owner was of the mindset if it works do it, the windows appear to be set in the channel with a combination of Ductape and silicone, not pretty And this leads to another issue, mismatched regulators, see below...

    Door Window replacment

Basically a safety issue, if there's a wreck and the doors are jammed shut , it's easier to get out of a car with tempered glass, since it shatters, and you don't have to struggle with broken glass and the plastic layer...the reason modern cars use tempered in the doors, rear.

    Tire Tube replacement question?

Tires were replaced (they are Universal) prior to my purchase due to dry rot, they appear new, the spare had never hit the pavement (nubs were still intact), until Sunday. Tube valve separated from the stem so assuming the tubes weren't replaced, all valve stems look pretty old. I ordered new...
