    Old Pictures

There are tons of old car crash photos on Youtube. Here's just one example, with AI-enhanced and colorized pictures that are amazingly sharp: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wz85JKHkvqM&ab_channel=TheHistoryLounge The same channel has some other videos like that. It's simple to take a quick...

    Latest Restorer Magazine.

I emailed the info address for a third time yesterday and finally got a reply. I was assured a replacement copy will be sent out today.

    Latest Restorer Magazine.

Still no reply to my emails, going back almost 2 weeks. Yesterday I tried a different tack, writing to the editor of the Restorer rather than the standard 'info' email address. No response yet but I'm hoping someone there will acknowledge my concerns.

I still haven't gotten mine. I've emailed MAFCA about it twice but have never had the courtesy of a reply. I also never received a renewal notice. I renewed online but have yet to receive a confirmation.

    Neat Photo You Might Like

The Cliff House restaurant has been closed for a few years now, but there are plans in the works to reopen next year. The big question mark is the name. The property is owned by the government, and was leased to operators. The last business owners trademarked the name and are now holding it...

Poll Re Driving Original Model "A"

For many years I ran a small business working from home. Every day I needed to drive to the nearby post office, on quiet town streets, to drop off and pick up mail. In good weather, I always drove my '28 Fordor. One day in 2009 I was in a hurry so I opted to just take my Honda. Like Chuck, I was...

Dielectric grease on starter switch contacts

I had the same problem with sticking switch a number of years ago. No fun. I took the switch apart and filed down the pitting, and used dielectric grease on the surfaces. I drove it for several more years without a problem. (I later sold the car.)

    Restamping a restamped block

When I bought a '28 Fordor out of Oklahoma I drove it to my local California DMV to register it and get YOM plates assigned. I took books with me that specified that Model As used the engine number as the VIN. I never needed to show them. The inspector went out to check the car, saw that the...

"Edison" Ecometer for Model A Ford

Thanks for the clarification. That makes total sense. I'm not at all clear on how it could have worked (though evidently it didn't...). All there is inside is a small flap which only partially impedes any airflow, and under what circumstances isn't clear to me.

"Edison" Ecometer for Model A Ford

There were lots of aftermarket accessories made for the Model A. This is perhaps one of the most obscure: The Ecometer. I put "Edison" in quotes in the title. Why? Because it was not invented by THE Thomas Edison, but rather by his son, Thomas A. Edison, Jr. Tom Junior was something of a...

    Restored License Plates

I don't know about fiberglass, but licenseplates.tv makes aluminum replica plates that are very close to originals in size, color and fonts. They no longer make California plates due to problems with the state DMV, but I think they still do most other states. A number of years back I bought a...

    Source for insulated ammeter nuts

^^^^ That's a great point, which I wouldn't have thought of. In theory, plastic should work as well as Bakelite for insulation. But you're totally right, it wouldn't hold up to heat, which is an obvious risk.

Logo Lites - Replacing the Turn Signals

I love Logo Lites. Relatively unobtrusive, easy installation, and people can readily see them. A huge plus for safety in modern driving.
