In the Sept/Oct 2012 issue of The Restorer magazine there is a photo on page 5 showing the installation sequence of the windshield hardware of a '31 roadster...

On my '31 roadster the welting had a metal hook riveted to each end that fit into a slot at the bottom of each side of the cowl...stand the hood up on its cowl end as it's steadier in that position, then dribble or spray a light oil, WD-40 for example, so that all the hidden parts of the hood...

We used a **** grease in the Shell oil refinery I used to work at that was gasoline proof as it wasn't hydrocarbon based...we ordered it from a company here in Houston called "Val-Tex"...I'm to call them and see if I could purchase some over the counter...

Hagerty works for me too...had to have my '55 Chevy flatbedded to my house after my coil dropped out...excellent service...

When I replaced my engine head gasket last year I removed all the old studs with a stud removal tool and then cleaned off the top of each piston and the engine deck itself. Then I chased the threads on each threaded hole several times until the tap showed no trash then installed each new stud...

This is what I'm calling the dash rail...on my '31 Roadster it's rivited to the body as part of the structure of the body...

I'm really interested to see if there is a way to remove the dash rail on a '31 Roadster...

I looked at the seat (curtain) pans for the '29's and the '31's and they're the same so you'll have to cut some of the seat pan away to reach the body to frame mounting bolts for the outer seat belt anchors. The center anchors present a problem as there is no cross frame to anchor the seat blets...

Call me as it would be easier to describe what I did...409-679-3868...

I think it's kind of obvious that the hump in your floor mat is caused by the lady just to left in your avatar leaning over the fender...
