I solved my vapor lock problems with installing little steel sheet to close the exhaust pipe going thru the intake manifold. did this last year, and i never had any more vapor lock! My Dad said he used to use year of manufacturer pennies in those holes

Randy Randy, Before you buy a pump, climb under again and tighten the connections where you took off the old pump. You may very well be sucking air at that point, which would have the exact same symptoms as you described Old one was leaking
