    1942 Emergency brake cable

Hey Huey, Yes, I just ordered one of those from South Carolina (one of my favourite two Carolinas). Hard to tell from the photo, but it definitely looks shorter than the one I have. It's definitely a different design, so wroth having in any case. Yes, there's not much adjustment and yes, It's...

Thank you! Mine is about 4". Mystery solved, perhaps! I've made a rookie mistake- assumed the previous owner sourced the correct parts Thanks again for the help- much appreciated! Ralf

    1942 Emergency brake cable

Hmmm, yes, that might be where I end up, thanks. I can't find anything that says "the early 1942s (possibly Canadian) had a special custom cable 101 17/64 inches long" so I'll keep messing with what I have. Best, Ralf

    1942 Emergency brake cable

Thanks, I tried the slack adjuster thingies and I'd need a few of them! I'll report back once I get the job off and can handle the cable. Best, Ralf

    1942 Emergency brake cable

Thanks folks. Some fiddling this morning and it's clear the passenger side EN lever is disconnected inside the hub. which it wasn't last time I connected it. Unfortunately that's the hub which is stuck. Working on that. Even when I fitted the new cable, though, the most I ever got was a wisp of...

    1942 Emergency brake cable

Hi folks, 1942 Super Deluxe . . . . My emergency brake cable is causing some head-scratching! It's hasn't worked since I've had the car and I've reacehd the point where I would really like it to--I live in a hilly city and I think the traffic people deliberately put lights at the top of hills...

    dwell perctage

Sort of. Dwell angle will vary too, as lobes=cylinders (often). In a V-8 there are only 45 degrees per cylinder, hence the twin points in a crab to drag the dwell angle up to 36 degrees. In a four cylinder you'd have 90 degrees per cylinder to play with, so with an equally bumpy cam as an 8 you...

1941 Canadian colours (Spot the U!)

Hi 38 Coupe, In BC cars on collectors plates need to have nothing significant that wasn't available within two years of the car's manufacture date (if you see what I mean). The engine is less of a problem, but the colour is. The car has to be painted a colour it could have been in 1941, so...

1941 Canadian colours (Spot the U!)

Thank you, yes, that's what I was thinking. Working through all this stuff to see if I can get collectors' plates in BC. Not looking good! Ralf

1941 Canadian colours (Spot the U!)

Thanks, that was very much my thought. In addition, it's badged deluxe but has the simple linear dash without the clock and plastic trim. I'm finding it hard to find a picture of an original Canadian '41 Deluxe. Sorry for the nooby question, but is there any definitive way to be sure about the...

1941 Canadian colours (Spot the U!)

Thanks very much covette8n. I had checked out that site and I don't see one too much like it. It's basically a bright electric blue: Seems awfully bright fro the early 40s? Ralf

1941 Canadian colours (Spot the U!)

Hi folks, I have a chance to pick up a Canadian production 1941 Deluxe Coupe and I'm trying to find out the colour options. A web search turns up the US colours, none of which match this particular car. If it's been re-sprayed they did a heck of a job in reaching all the interior parts and so...
