New Guy with a 38 Pickup

Finally had a second to shoot a pic of the underside of my hood latch assembly - It locks closed when the latch is in the closed position by the notched cam of the latch sliding over and engaging on the pin in the shroud / grill surround, but it sure isn't pretty. Not sure what someone was doing...

New Guy with a 38 Pickup

It's been great so far - went out with my son on Friday night and cruised around a bit, that's when I shot the pic in front of the Theatre. I remember driving around with my dad in the truck when I was about his age, 17. I grew up near St. Louis and didn't get to spend a lot of time with my dad...

New Guy with a 38 Pickup

Yes the hood latch works, but its far from stock - I'll take some pics of the current setup on the underside of the hood. Ended up being undiagnosed heart disease which was odd as he saw his regular physician and the VA doctor on a regular...

New Guy with a 38 Pickup

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Some keen eyes here - It does have a 39 hood ornament and it is indeed not on wide 5's. It does have the t-handle for the windshield vent and not sure about an ashtray as there is a "custom" wood dash bolted over the original dash. From peeking from...

New Guy with a 38 Pickup

Hey All - figured I'd introduce myself as I'm newish around here, been browsing for a while but haven't had anything to post about. Finally managed to bring home my 1938 Pickup that had belonged to my Dad. He had owned the truck since the mid 80's and it was his daily driver for many years. My...
