    Smokin

As Patrick stated, pull the instrument panel away from the dash (gas tank) and look for signs of contact on the tank. If you see it, then the bend and tape of connections is an easy solve. Since you are running a 12v system, have you changed over to negative ground? If so you can also open the...

    Removing Gas Tank Question

Use penetrating oil on the whole series of bolts and fasteners and wait. Then use a 'dog bone' wrench. You may have to reverse the position and may even have to heat the wrench and bend it straighter a little if necessary. As another member stated, flame and gas tanks do not mix well.

I have to have this part!

I would LOVE to have the 'part' as well. Let us KNOW if and when you can find it. Post in under the SAME heading, or - 'GOTTA HAVE this PART'.

    Engine oil again

One last thing I failed to state - 'A lot of good advice has been posted in the various replies from the members here.'

    Engine oil again

I would go with the 'builders' recommendation. One thing I would add is Lucas for its adhesion properties. I personally have used Castrol 20/50 for decades (Florida) in my cars and in my 31 Coupe (with Lucas) and have had exceptional results in my foreign and domestic vehicles.

    1929 water pump packing nut

I know that most of us love to keep our Model A's as original as possible; however, I drive my 31' A regularly. I through finally replaced the original water pump with a modern 'Leakless pump several years ago. Very happy to not have to deal with 'packing and lug tightening. Still, it is your...

    1931 Battery Holder

If your car is just a 'driver' and you are NOT looking to meet 'Judgement Standards', you are more that 'safe' to retain the 'rubber insulation' that you found. If the car/battery has been converted to 'negative' ground you are should remove all material down to the bare metal and repaint.

    Fuel tank removal

The gas tank IS the cowling for the front of the car just past the firewall and up to the body (to which it is bolted). Unscrew these and get inside and under the dash and remove ALL the securing bolts and the clamps. The gas tank will then lift out up and out in front of the windshield. If you...

    Scroll rumble handle

These keys are not hard to reproduce. If you are happy with the condition of the handle, take the handle out of the lid and take it to a locksmith shop which will be able to reproduce the key at a reasonable cost.

    Retorqing head

MIKE"S and MAC"S catalogs have the information located in the catalogs. There are diagrams of the torque patterns and repeating torque sequences and time between doing so. Each step is 'always' with a cold block. Just take your time and do it right.

    Leaky Tire

Ditto for replacing the old tube. You have gone to a lot of effort to replace the wheel, so do the same with the inner tube. Penny wise - dollar foolish as an old Triumph tech told me years ago when I owned Triumphs. Also, you should put a little oil on the tools you are using and on the...

    Mirrors for coupe

I have that set-up, but have a door-post mirror on both sides and a rear view mirror as well. This set-up allows me to see back down the road 'and' to either side of my coupe. It takes a little adjusting with the door mirrors, but it works well. As we are usually traveling slower than most...

Max Speed of a Model A with 26% OD and HC Head

All I can tell you is that I run sustained 68 mph in my Model A (per Garmin GPS readings) with a standard Model A 3-speed trans. I have 12 volt modern point system, a lightened flywheel, balanced crankshaft, and a Weber Two barrel carb with the modern intake. I also add Lucas lubricates in both...

Why do you own a Model A?

I first had a 1919 Model T given to me by my wife for Christmas. Completely restored the car and loved driving it. Then had the opportunity to buy a Model A coupe and just had to have the car. So much more modern, reliable, and faster. Totally restored the Model A and then upgraded to 12 volt...
