    1951 ignition switch retainer/locknut?

Thanks everyone for the help. Once I figured out what we were looking for, I found one in a bunch of chrome mystery pieces I'd been saving. That bezel sure is small!

    1951 ignition switch retainer/locknut?

I looked at that photo earlier but it didn't click for me until now...I thought the chrome piece was much larger. Thanks!

    1951 ignition switch retainer/locknut?

I'm not too familiar with the shoebox Fords, but does the black nut fit over the chrome one from the photo above? Or are there different nuts?

    1951 ignition switch retainer/locknut?

Hi all, I'm trying to help a customer with a '51 coupe find the retainer for his ignition switch - it's not the bezel on the dash, but the quarter turn fastener that secures the switch. The problem is, neither of us knows what it should look like, and from what I've read there are as many as...

    Flathead bearings - red/blue sizes?

Ahh, thanks! I wasn't considering the shell thickness. Were odd journal sizes really that common? I've come across piles of bearings over the years but never the reds and blues.

    Flathead bearings - red/blue sizes?

Hi All, I'm going through a few boxes of flathead bearings and found several with odd dimensions. For example, I've got a set labeled "ICM-6333-A Red .0852-.0855 and Blue .0855-.0858" Can anyone explain the color/sizing? I've never run across these before and am not finding anything in my...

Got my first T and having starting issues

I got her to run! Went through the carb for the third time and blew a lot of compressed air through it. Cleaned every orifice with torch tip cleaners. The manifold gaskets were pretty old, so I replaced them with a copper lined set. Also jacked up the right rear tire. It took a few more...

Got my first T and having starting issues

Jacked it up and it definitely made cranking easier, and with less load the starter stayed engaged with the ring gear most of the time. I was able to get it to run for 10-15 seconds several times. Still working with mixture and choke settings. The engine sounded good when it was running...

Got my first T and having starting issues

I have the L4 carb. I've disassembled it and blown air through all the ports several times, but it's certainly possible the low speed ports are clogged...Is there any access to them for cleaning? Air valve moves freely, main jet is the original style and moves freely, etc. Might be worth...

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll keep plugging away at it. Also, the carb is a Kingston

Got my first T and having starting issues

I picked up a new-to-me '22 center door at an estate sale last weekend. It's a wonderful car - seems like a well preserved car that has an old repaint but is otherwise original. Previous owner appears to have gone through the carb, gas tank is clean, old battery was dated 2009, oil is clean...

Do you drive your A in the snow or stormy weather?

Dad drove his grandfather's '50 Chevy well into the 1980's before "upgraded" to a '54. One of my earliest memories was piling into the car and wrapping up in quilts to drive over to visit family. That year the ice was so bad the car was frozen to the curb. My wife has a minivan with heated...

Do you drive your A in the snow or stormy weather?

I've always enjoyed driving older cars in snow or storms...It makes it a little more adventurous. Took the '29 out after the last accumulation of snow and had a blast. We're in a semi-rural area and its a perfect car to run over to the shop to get some things done after work. Little salt on...
