Alan, is your 41 truck a 1 ton, or? I talked to "ralph" at Joblot and he told me the rod ends for a 41 Ford 1 ton have a 3/4 inch shank. Back to the drawing board.
Guys,
I'm trying to identify the tie rod ends on my vintage racer. The rod ends look just like the regular 35-48 rod ends except these have 5/8-18rh thread on the 3 inch shank. The stud is I/2-20 and taper appears to be 7 degrees. On the zerk side I see a stamped script FORD and block A...
I have a vintage race car with (a V-8 "60" engine, and) braided drum brake linings. I want to clean any oil/grease out of them. My vintage race buddy says they should be "soaked" to get the oil out. Would white vinegar be a suitable cleaner, assuming the shoes are not aluminum?
Thanks!

I've used composite gaskets on my V8-60 racer for 18 years w/ no problems. Install dry, retorque after 1 heat cycle and recheck after 2nd heat cycle. Good luck
My rail V8-60 & I were developed in the same year - 1940...& it was pass magnaflux tests better than I!!! btw 2011, take away 1940--my 2nd grade math tells me I'm 71.

I'm surprised that a "60" is bored .210 over! Wow... The sleeves require about a .083 bore, give or take. There are some good guys in the flathead world that have 60 pistons still in "semi" finish, but I wouldn't think the "semis" would be .210 over. Good luck
Thanks guys!!!!! All good info. Charlie, I'm in touch w/ David. Greg & Ventilo, I am passing your info to the shop guys. I hope I can be as helpful for the next request.
