Painted or natural cast exhaust manifold

Another thing, the intake and exhaust have been assembled and ground flat. I hate to take them apart just to coat the exhaust. Any thoughts? Also is there a reason to spot face the washer surfaces so they are flat to the mounting surfaces. Ed

Painted or natural cast exhaust manifold

I think I know the result, but is it more desirable to leave the exhaust in natural cast or paint with high temp paint. Not going for show points but just a good looking engine for an every day. Ed

Had a professional garage door service it today but he did not recommend any type of lube, and they are torsional springs. Ed

    OT garage door lube

Off Topic but what do you use to lube the springs on an overhead door. My five panel door is getting hard to lift and the springs need lube I'm sure. Ed

    thrust clearance

Have no idea how many miles are on the rebuild. Has .030 overbore, so probably only one rebuild. The reason the engine is out is for a new clutch, I had to push the clutch pedal all of the way down to the floor to disengage the clutch so I am checking everything I can before it goes back in. Ed

    thrust clearance

That is what I have done, getting the .018 reading. Is that the actual thrust clearance? Ed

What is the reason for the X cast into my block. It is a Canadian car with original block numbers. The X is left side under the starter. Ed

    thrust clearance

I cannot find the thrust clearance in my red book. I was measuring the flywheel runout and found if I turn the engine clockwise (from the rear) I get a different reading from turning it CCW. So I assume this difference would be the thrust clearance without taking the engine apart and measuring...

    1928 newbie, many questions

If there is an old sawmill in your area, there might be some piece of industrial equipment there that might be powered with model a engine. I visited an old sawmill in Louisiana that had four pieces of equipment with model a engines. Ed

I have seen an alarmingly number of people disregarding red lights. I for one wait before I proceed after the light turns green before I will go through the intersection. Ed
