Thank you David and Deuce lover!! I had help from my local NAPA store on getting a color similar to the pictures both of you have send (and David, matching the color in your restoration book) … which I appreciate! I did not want to start painting the window trim and panels without verifying...
I have a follow-up question to the paint color of the dash /belt rail panel. Are all the other trim parts in the interior of the car the same color as the belt rail panel? Looking at the pictures above, they look the same but I would like to verify before moving forward. Also, does anyone...
Thanks everyone for the great information! Unfortunately my belt rail got sand blasted and primed before I took photos so I do not have a good reference of color. David’s attached photos are wonderful and really helpful for seeing what it should look like. I will discuss with my painter and...
I did a search and did not find a thread on paint color for the belt rail panel on a 32 Tudor. I am new at doing searches so may not have typed in the correct key words. Does anyone have a color code for the rail panel? I assume it is the same color that was used on the window trim as well...
Good advice, and thank you for the knowledge that these should be countersunk rivets. I would never have known the difference if it weren’t for your well written response to my questions. I will take off one of the bolts and see if I can find countersunk bolts that will work.
Maybe the front crossmember was replaced because it is attached to the frame with low profile square head bolts. I have attached a picture. I could grind them down if they are suppose to be flush.
Does the welting under the front fender start at the firewall and run all the way to the front of the frame? If it does, do you cut out for the rivets on the front cross member?
Thanks everyone for your help with the cowl to firewall attachment. After a little more work, it fits just like the picture glennpm posted above. The picture really helped me understand how it was suppose to fit. Thanks again for everyone’s input.
Wow, what a challenge to get the rubber seal in-between the cowl and the firewall. I reshaped the rubber seal using my table saw with a new carbide finishing blade. This worked well. I cut a grove for the smaller part of the L shaped seal into a one by four and used carpet tape to firmly...
I have read a number of posts referring to the rubber pads used when attaching the body to the frame on a ‘32 tudor at the rear of the body. Per the posts, they are 2x2 inch pads - one is 1/8 inch thick and the other is 1/4 inch thick. I have called several vendors and they no longer have any...
Thank you all for the insightful input. I will not get back to working on it until this weekend but will freeze and try to sand down to the .21 inch thickness. That to me looks like the solution. I will let you know how it worked.
One other question: I used the frame welting under the legs of the firewall and after reading one of DavidG’s posting, I am questioning if there is a specific product/part for that purpose. After reading his post, I think I should at least double the welting if that product is sufficient...
Help, I am putting the body of my ‘32 Tudor on the frame and running into problems with installing the rubber welting between the firewall and cowl. I installed the firewall and than lifted the body with the help of friends onto the frame and firewall. I have read a number of posts discussing...
