I'am not here to defend Drake as I have received junk parts from several vendors. I will say that the holes in 80 year old fenders may not be perfect and the bezels i got from Drake didn't fit very good but with some hand forming the soft metal you can get a pretty good fit.
Oil leaking out the vent hole in the right front of pan. Is that vent hole necessary? Can the pan gasket be changed without pulling the engine. Thanks in advance for any information from the knowledgeable people on this forum. Nebrfox
You here a lot of openions on which oil to use in a flathead. From all the information I have read I decided to use Ford Motorcraft SAE 15 W 40 diesel oil. Haven't used it long enough to form an openion its just another option.
Does anyone make a better front and rear main seal for the 40 flathead than the old rope seals? Changed mine twice and still have leaks or am I doing something wrong. I put silicone on the ends when installing the pan. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
My dad had a Gleaner combine witha 12 ft. grain head in the late forties that had a model A 4cyl engine. It was under powered so he put a Allis Chalmers tractor engine in it. Biggest combine around at the time until the self propelled combines started a new era on the farm. Nebrfox
Larry, I am doing a 40 pickup now and my front fenders have about 3/8 in clearance between front of fender and frame. On the inner panel you should have a 3/8 in hole on each side of the brake line that should have a rubber bumper. Part number 01A-16188. One place you can get them is Bob Drake...
Find a pickup that has been judged by the Early V8 Ford Club and received the Dearborn award and take pictures of everything. Most owners are willing to help especially if you are restoring it to stock.
I have two windlace door kits. One from Cartouche measures .425 dia. And one from LeBaron Bonney measures .550 dia. Which is the correct size. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks to all who responded to my hood problem. Was doing it with the brackets on the cowl and not haveing much success. Also good to know about the paint, thought they were gloss black.
