any rear wheel bearing I ever replaced came with a retainer ring. and yes a good press makes it a whole lot easier

When I worked in the shop as a kid. all the thermostats had a little hole in them. no thermostats can cause heating because the water cannot stay in the radiator long enough to cool. a small hole in the stat will also help the air to get out of the block when filling if you fill slowly. slowly.

I do not run in a dirty enviroment, It has a nice sized air filter. starts getting black almost immediatly. Has done it right from the start up. To make a long story short ,I had the pan off since rebuild and it had a lot of black residue in it. I thought to begin with maybe the rebuilder...

my flathead is an 8BA, maybe 2000 miles on rebuild. Right from the beginning it turns the oil black. The neighbor says this has to be to much fuel . Has a stock 94 on it. bought this carb many many years ago . Rebuild from western auto, still in the box. Got a kit and rebuilt it. Car starts...

my 46 mercury , I no longer own. Would quite when hot sometimes. Let it cool and it would run again. Problem ended up being a relay ? up under the dash mounted on inner fire wall. Dont know if this was a stock item or not but was old.

I had trouble with my Bob Drake unit also. Parked in the middle. If i remember right I reversed the arms on the Pivot arm. My car is a 46 2 door.Have owned it for 58 years.

engine was rebuilt by a reputable shop. Has a full flow oil system from Mark Kerby. Has an oil filter. Has 10w40 oil . Pennzoil. Engine has a little over 2000 miles on it.
