    SILV-O-LITE 8-1017 Piston Info?

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll have to bore it to a more standard and available size. I talked to Ross and they said .100 over would have to be custom. I looked at Egge and their L-991 do come in.100 over and 4" stroke. Seems like a winner so far. It's a shame that this block appears to have been...

    SILV-O-LITE 8-1017 Piston Info?

Yeah, I was excited to find numbers so close, but not as excited that they were about double what I was expecting. I called UEM and they didn't have records back far enough to find my pistons.

    SILV-O-LITE 8-1017 Piston Info?

Howdy, I have a barn find 1941 Mercury block in the machine shop and after a parts wash, it looks like it was freshly bored, covered in grease, and stuck in the corner to collect dust for decades. It was originally 3.1875, but is now 3.280.. which is roughly 3/32 or 0.090 over. The bore is so...

    Brent Terry Model A restorations

Yeah, I found it difficult to get ahold of him after he stole my gas tank. Months of radio silence between replies. After something like a year and a half, I finally bugged him enough to get a small payment out of him. That was after he displayed a complete lack of character or responsibility...

Engine ID - check my math

Picked up this pile of parts for super cheap. I think I see some T parts mixed in, so I don't know if these V8 parts ever went together or if this was a pile of leftovers. Based on my research, this is: An approx 1941 block because of the "raised" intake area, A Mercury because of the round...

    block crack

If that's junk, I suspect a lot of us are running junk.

Coming Soon the 64th Long Beach Model T Club Swap Meet

I'll be there, looking for A and early V8 parts. I take my motorcycle to force myself to shop smart. If I had my truck, I'd clean the place out.

'29 CCPU seat shopping - what do I need?

Thanks for the info, pals. I've emailed you, Neil. I have been set on getting a LeBaron Bonney seat.. just waiting for their material sample packet to arrive so I can brainstorm a bit. But, if folks have a compelling reason to avoid them, I'm all ears.

'29 CCPU seat shopping - what do I need?

I'm in the market for a seat for my 1929 Closed Cab Pickup. This is what I'm working with. I want to stay stock, so no minivan or S-10 or anything else. I've mentally swallowed the pill for the cost of a new complete seat from one of the current suppliers but I don't know what other mounting...

Sometimes I get tired of it

As an engineer, I get tired of... anti-science personal anecdotes. Your sample size of a single failure doesn't discredit the rest of us who have used the process successfully. The fact that your mixture is evaporating instantly leads me to suspect you're not actually experimenting with a...

Help. What size gear shift knob insert do I need?

Determine the thread of your later knob. The A thread is 5/16-24. You might even get lucky and buy a standard thread insert that matches both, yours on the outside and 5/16-24 on the inside.

    Spring bolt

So, what's the deal with the current suppliers center bolts? Their recommended lengths are about 2-3 inches too long. The nut bottoms out before it even sandwiches the leafs.

    Bell Housing

I have a stack of seven left-overs while I was building up my current truck. I started with one cracked one, listed a wanted (crack free) ad here, and every single one that arrived until #8 was cracked just as much, if not more, than my original one. The silver lining is I was refunded...

    I.D. Plate?

My plate is also blank, from 90 years of use, abuse, etc. I'm 99% sure that I'm going to copy the Sopwith Pup and replace mine with a brass plate that says, "In the event of the propeller or engine being removed the gun must be retimed."
