Much discussion on the health of the hobby and considerable concern given the length of this string. My club was highly active for over 60 years but folded up this summer due to a lack of youthful membership. My perception is the hobby is in very slow but definite decline. Perhaps a technical...
Trying to generate interest in the hobby is commendable and worthwhile. I am always happy to discuss Model A lore with the local kids and anyone that is interested. Sadly, I fear we are only rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Here in the Florida Panhandle, the only thing my club did was fold up !! The lesson learned was not a new one. As the number of Model A enthusiasts continues to decrease, the importance of bringing in younger members cannot be over emphasized. The average age of our club membership was over...
Suspect most of us drive our rides around town at about 45 MPH max which seems to be the sweet spot. The question for the cross country travelers is what is the maximum recommended sustained speed on highway driving given the limitations of the non-pressurized engine lubrication system. Back...
Shields Up !! She may be heading for registration hell. ID numbers did not become VIN numbers until 1956. All Model As had the engine number stamped on the frame during assembly. I have been told Canadian built As did not have the frame stamped. The issue with engine ID numbers on Model As...
Re: A Won’t Start and Stumped
Do you at least get a cough or belch when cranking ? Any chance you installed the distro 180 degrees out, i.e. spark at #1 on the exhaust stroke ? Be sure and share the fix when you get it running. Good Luck.
The clip is actually based on an incident during the Civil War when in 1862 Union spies hijacked the train. The actual locomotive is now on permanent display at a museum in Kenneshaw, Georgia.

Had a similar problem with my 31 frequently stalling and poor idle quality. Problems were completely corrected by a valve lash adjustment. When corrected be sure and tell us what the fix was. Good luck !
Given your experience, do not think operator error is the problem. My 31 upshifts fine when cold without double clutching. Might investigate the clutch disc hanging up or a problem with the pilot bushing experiencing some friction causing the input shaft to rotate while cold. Be sure and...
The PO put a six blade plastic fan on my 31 which destroyed the pump bearing. I changed the pump and installed a two blade aluminum fan which continues to perform great here in Florida.
Sorry to hear you are closing shop. I enjoyed great service from Bratton's for a number of years and always went there first.
Thanks for your excellent support to the Model A community !
