    Prestolite B Tank

Hi all, I've been away a while, sorry about that....... I'm about to swap an Acetylene B tank for my torch and wanted to see if anyone would want this tank. I'd need whatever it costs to buy another tank in exchange for this one. Or, I suppose another good tank would be fine as long as I can...

    Really really old Acetylene tank?

I suppose the Native Americans may have used it, but it's history is far larger than that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/******** The ******** (as a character 卐 or 卍) is an ancient religious symbol used in the Indian subcontinent, East Asia and Southeast Asia. It is also a historic symbol...

    Really really old Acetylene tank?

Wow! So I won't have any problems if I try to swap this tank with AirGas? That was a huge concern of mine. I'd love to see some pictures of some original acetylene lights in use.

    Really really old Acetylene tank?

Not sure, I see a few numbers there. Like 32-11. What I'm confused by is I've heard many claim you can't get these tanks refilled etc. How, and why did Tractor Supply have a nice blue (apparently their color) painted one all filled up and ready to go? Is this going to be a nightmare for me...

    Really really old Acetylene tank?

Hey guys, I just swapped my B tank out for a full one at Tractor Supply and look what they gave me. Is this as old as I think it is? The valve is offset, there's two plugs in the bottom of the tank and it says "Preso-Lite" on the side.

Ah, so that explains the lack of valve covers.

How do you avoid people swarming your car when you stop?

Easy. Switch to restoring antique refrigerators. This way, no one ever gets to see your hard work because it's stuck in the kitchen! :( Sorry, I started realizing this when bringing home another unit to restore and a guy driving a model B saw it in the back of the truck and we started...

    Henry's Boat

Two silly questions. Why do the Liberty engines not have valve covers!? This is a 1930s engine no? What lubricates the valve stems? Second, why do most if not all boat engines exhaust the cooling water out with the engine exhaust?

I am truly amazed.... https://youtu.be/axIJ2tsye_I Someone actually made better (stronger?) engines than the Duesy straight 8 in the 1920s-1930s. I had no idea.

Long stroke, short stroke. More than you want to know

I have no problems with flatheads because no one advertises them as something special. I am addicted to reading about Miller engines now though ever since someone mentioned them in the boating thread. He made some really mean engines even by today's standards.

I could never own a "hemi" The fact it's been outdated since what, 1911? and they advertise it as something special bothers me too much. I'll take a 4 valve per cyl pent-head any day. Even a 1920s Duesy is better than a 1960s - current hemi!

    Removal of flux

We use Quickbraid all the time here, it's a normal consumer product. However, I highly doubt rosin soldering braid will do anything to a silver soldered product. You silver solder at 1400+F not 650. I think when I solder using Stay-Silv 15 I'm over 1600F. The nice thing about Stay-Silv 15 is...

His mistress? Sounds like a real great man............ Combine that with the "Ford service department" and I'd rather just forget he had anything to do with the "A". The more I learn about him the less I like him. What kind of engines are those in the Miss America boats? Converted...

I had 226,000 on my 1992 SBC 350 when I sold the truck. Any specific reason you both feel a 327 is better than a 350?

    Double Clutch Upshift

I've known many truck drivers that drive their rigs like this as well. I've also seen guys operate a synchronized like this. I have a word for it, it's called abuse. There is no way you could be perfectly timed every time you shift and any slight offset causes permanent damage. Maybe you're...
