cough and sputter and lack of power

Hey Mike - I had the exact same symptoms you describe after I changed a head gasket on my coupe at the 2013 NW regional meet in Bend. What we found out is that while working on things had either bumped, or reinserted my fuel line too far into the sediment bulb and it was starving for gas. The...

    Replacement Battery

Shop for a "Group 1" battery. 6V. I can get them at the local farm supply store for $65. They sell them much cheaper than the auto parts stores or classic car vendors. Same battery - Shop around and buy local if possible.

    Coolant

I had foaming issues with Prestone - but I have had good results with Oreilly branded conventional green antifreeze for older vehicles. Don't over think this... Should there be some sort of anti-rust additive? Yes... I think everything mentioned already takes care of the corrosion prevention...

    Ignition Cable Installation Question

I third this... I cut and modified the clamp to clamp from the top of the stud - its a C shape and doesn't encircle the cable completely it juts holds it down in place. I then used a thin jam nut to hold it in place. This way I can clamp my ignition cable to the head and remove it to torque...

Help needed, photos and mounting hardware Slant Window and Victoria sun visors

Thanks for the replies and input! I dug through all the hardware I saved from my Grandfather's junk drawer years ago when we cleaned out his garage. I came up with 6 oval head slotted wood screws that Im sure were sourced for Model A's (his coupe which I'm still working on) and were roughly 3/4"...

Help needed, photos and mounting hardware Slant Window and Victoria sun visors

Everything I have seen, in the JS and what I remember of other cars I've seen is the hinge is mounted toward the rear of the car so it pivots closer to the drivers head than the windshield header. I assume these are maybe tubular rivets? holding the visor to the bracket? Would you use a small...

Help needed, photos and mounting hardware Slant Window and Victoria sun visors

Hi there, The Slant Window sedan I purchased a couple years ago did not have sun visors installed. I got around to sourcing the brackets and bought sun visors from Classtique which were a perfect match for my headliner but I lack the hardware to mount the brackets to the top wood or the sun...

Ford Barn meetup at the 2026 Convention

I'll try to make it also. I'm going to have my whole family in tow - two kids age 8 and 4 and my wife so I'll be beholden to their schedule as well but it would be fun to make it there. We'll be there all week.

    An embarrasing side quest.

While Ive been humming right along on my total front end rebuild, riveting frame crossmember swap and engine swap I hit an embarrasing snag. If you caught my previous post about the crossmember we got the engine installed and everything! We did fight getting the engine in between the mounts for...

Frame day was a Riveting success!

With the help of three friends from the Treasure Valley Model A club we accomplished a great deal of work on my 31 slant window sedan today. Photos at the bottom. I have been plugging along on my 31 slant window. The car is a looker but underneath there have been a lot of issues that needed...
