What State is Model A Friendly ???

Sit tight, don't make any moving plans! There should only be fees involved in your DMV activity. The reason being you are not purchasing or transferring the vehicle. The reason for the cost of the car at time of purchase is so the DMV can collect the use tax on the sale price. This occurs only...

Where does one find an oil return pipe?

I had the cockeyed cup problem and fixied it bolting the pipe up without gaskets. I then put a propane torch on the tube near each cup and when the solder relaxed I tightened the bolts. This allowed both cups to sit flush and allowed the gaskets to do their job easier.

    No start

From your description, "with the key off I have 6V at both coil terminals and both fastners at the box on the firewall. Nothing at the points.", this is as it should be. There should be six volts all the way to the ignition switch. The next description is also true. Once the key is on and the...

    Back flushing the radiator

By disconnecting the top and bottom hoses and applying water pressure to the bottom radiator hose neck. The catch is you are fighting gravity, a baffle, etc. You can do the block at the same time though.

Possible "non surgical" solution to the Model A leaning problem.

My method is to loosen the spring clamps then tighten the high side first, then the other side.

2 different VIN numbers. Which should I go with?

In California I've had the DMV do it both ways. My sedan title uses the engine number, but that engine is not in the car any longer. When I got my pickup registered, it had been non-op for 30 plus years, the DMV sent me to the Highway Patrol and they applied a new pair vin number tags. I got a...

    Killer virus

Well here I am, I'm back. All I did was search for shock info and I wound up at the H.A.M.B. Jalopy Journal. Got an alert about suspicious code and ignored it, twice. Got a Java script warning and by then it was too late. I got the Win32:Sirefef virus. It immediately shut down access to my...

My 31 pickup sat in my backyard for thirty years. Fired it up, drove it out, got it registered and turned it into a Woody. My bad!

    Thanks for the Forditude boost

Update! The rearend went fine (I think). The rear brakes were a mess so I did some temp work on them. A cam was frozen so I got that freed up. The adgusting shafts were two different lengths with the wedge ends destroyed so they got welded and ground down to be equal. The e-brake arm wear was...

    dirrerential adjustments

Gary, My first thought is silicon. What you have is the the carrier preload to be concerned with. Keep the banjo gaskets in order and try silicon at the leak areas, which should show on the gaskets. The idea is to stop the leak without thickening the gaskets as they set the carrier preload. The...

    not enough backpressure?

Whoa, you're finding to many things to guess at. Stop, put the Meineke muffler back on and see if this corrects your problem. If it does then leave it or put the glass pack on and rejet the carb. Like James said above, less back pressure will alter the flow and my long gone Honda four proved it...
