    How Close to (Over)Square In V-8 Bore/Stroke?

Well, thanks everyone who responded with knowledge and wisdom. I grew up up reading 40's and 50's (B&W and early color) HRMs that I bought at some expense for teenager at flea markets. Still have'em. Now I am careful with "hot rod" posts here...but as stocker flatheads will in future need at...

    How Close to (Over)Square In V-8 Bore/Stroke?

Bored and Stroked is common in the old Ford lingo. In the interest of preserving the incredible knowledge in our Members history, I inquire; can you share your experience with square/oversquare vs. just stroked vs. just bored? I know Ol' Ron will have something here as well as many others. I...

Concealed on the other side of the flattie was it's gear-drive two-stage WWll surplus Merlin supercharger'. Inside were 3:1 compression oversquare piston's and rods and understroked crankshaft forged by Thor in Valhalla. The carbs were fake, indeed housing extremely advanced fuel injectors...

    Hey Fellas... Some Clarification...

Knowledge is knowledge, and one would hope leads to wisdom. FordBarn always set the standard in general for me. JJ and HAMB got way too complicated for me, opinionated and "off-topic resistant"...off topic is Honda rebuilds, but I left being made unwelcome by surprise, surprise...look who's here...

Bubba's Ignition Health...Missed and Now What?

Jim Linder (Bubba) as most of us now know is retired...a great resource and icon. Wish him well with his health challenges. I have a Mallory I need tuned in for my '51 8BA...I can dismantle, ultrasonically and manually clean...but then there is the question of mechanical advance benching. I...

Could Edelbrock cast a flathead block

http://www.donovanengines.com/donovan-model-d-block/ http://www.donovanengines.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/ModelD.pdf Donovan makes the "D" block and accessories, an alloy knock-off of the A/B four. Of course a relatively much simpler casting than the tortuous 8 with the exhaust passages...

    Have Fallen in Love...With My ' 51 3-spd. O/D

Ol' Ron, I am running stock and no abuse. Thanks for the caution! The older R10 O/D is a 3 wheel planetary, the T85 with R11 O/D is 4 wheel and definitely more robust, I think I'll be ok unit has 37,000 original miles on it and I am going to inspect everything after our short New England...

That is a GREAT idea installing in a torque tube application. In fact, you could use the R10 or HD R11 as a remote unit in many non-O/D applications...hmmm, my gears are turning. Sorry, I made the worst joke ever. Would love to know more about how you accomplished this.
