    Brake Cross Shaft Locations?

Yes, my car had the early system without an independent parking brake system (the parking lever activated all 4 service brakes). I'm also switching to a T5 transmission so I have a lot happening in this part of the frame - new transmission, crossmember modifications, additional T5 support...

    Brake Cross Shaft Locations?

My wife reminded me that months ago I grabbed a front crossmember off a frame that a neighbour has behind his garage. Sure enough, it was still there, so I took photos and measurements! Strangest thing, even though my frame had the early brake set-up, the holes for the later style cross shaft...

    Brake Cross Shaft Locations?

Hi Bob - no, I don't have those pages. Do they refer to the information required to switch to the later style braking system and the location of the mounting holes?

    Brake Cross Shaft Locations?

Thanks everyone! Yes, it looks like I might have to visit a friend with my tape measure!

    Brake Cross Shaft Locations?

I've replaced my "early" braking system with the later style and need to install the brake cross shaft and parking brake cross shaft. Looking for a drawing that shows exactly where the hardware attaches the brackets to the frame. I did a search and have not been successful. Thanks

    machine shop in Southern Ontario?

The lead times to get babbit work done in the Southern Ontario area is very long. Is anyone aware of a machine shop in this area that can install modern insert bearings?

Pinion Gear Castle Nut - size?

Thanks for all the input - much appreciated. I am in Canada and we Canadians do what we have to do to get parts from great places like Snyder's. But, when a small hardware item is needed it is best to source locally due to timing and cost.

Pinion Gear Castle Nut - size?

Can someone tell me the size of the castle nut used to hold the pinion gear on the driveshaft? I've got a cracked nut (2 actually) that I believe was self caused when I used a large pipe to pop the pinion off the driveshaft. I'm in Canada and am going to try to source locally if I can so I can...

    Rebuilding the houdaille shocks

Like anything in this hobby - you can learn and invest in tools and your time and try to do the job yourself OR pay money for new/rebuilt parts. It's up to you. I'm learning how to rebuild shocks because I am not aware of anyone in my area that is and for some reason, I am fascinated by these...

    Rebuilding the houdaille shocks

The usual places where you would find any parts - swap meets and online ads like here on Ford Barn. But, if you read through this entire thread it is hard to find a good useable core that can be "rebuilt." And unless the rotator shaft is shaking around inside it is hard to know if you can...

    Rebuilding the houdaille shocks

The repair kit came with 2 sets of ball bearings in 2 different sizes. I assumed the larger bearings were for the type of shock shown here and the smaller for the type with the bearing "locked" inside the stationary vane. Perhaps I have this backwards?

    Rebuilding the houdaille shocks

Thanks Bob! Would a mig work or gas weld?

    Rebuilding the houdaille shocks

Attempting to rebuild a few of these shocks. A couple are the type with the loose ball check valve in the top of one of the stationary vanes (see first photo). I made an error when assembling the inner cover. Perhaps I put too much oil in the inner reservoir and when I tightened the inner...

    Rear Wheel Bearings - shims?

Thanks guys. I will see if the guy that did the work remembers where they came from. If he doesn't, I will assemble just the bearings, seals and lockrings.
