I have a PhD in materials science, and did some work with titanium alloys, then I managed a university facility (electron microscopes, optical microscopes, x-ray diffraction, x-ray radiography, x-ray other stuff) until I burned out and discovered racing, which took over my life, as racing tends to do. I edited and wrote most of the Opel Motorsport Club's newsletter for over ten years. That was great fun. Now I'm working on a couple of books and doing odd jobs, usually involving cars, to make ends meet.
