What would cause the transmission to pop out of 3rd gear when you let off the gas? Pick up a motor and transmission together and that was the only problem he had with it, so before I tear it down I would like some suggestions first, Thank You.

It did pop out of 2nd a few times and a little hard going in 2nd at times,pulled engine to do a refresh figured I would do both at the same time.

OK, took transmission out and this is what it looks like, what do you think? Everyone suggested I rebuild myself but don't know a good gear from bad?

Thanks everyone for your input, may go ahead and do it myself. Just want it done right so as not to have to pull it again, and as few leaks as possible. How do you know if the gears need to be replaced or not? Again thanks

I have a guy that is going to go thru my engine, now I'm looking for someone to rebuild the transmission for me. Would even purchase one if I could already rebuilt. I live just north of Indianapolis In, but willing to drive a little. Thanks

Went to hardware store and got a 1/4 x 1 1/2 roll pin and worked great.Thanks

Have that but looks like a pin goes in the hole to keep shifter from rotating.

What is used in this hole to stop the shift lever from rotating? Thank You
