I know, you forgot more than I know. Very bad assumption on your part. Don't get uptight over a conversation. I have seen what I speak of.

Then you know how bad of an idea it is to back the stud out. It will cause lifted threads and head gasket retention issues.

I ran an aluminum head that required longer studs. I made an investment in ARP studs that are about a 1/4" longer than stock. This made up for the extra length I needed due to needing to use washers with my heads. Hearing guys saying to adjust the length of the stud by backing it out of the hole...

Best money you can spend on an A engine is good head studs.

I use CV joint grease with a little bit of 600 gear oil.

I just junked a block because of a crack from the distributor hole to in between cylinders 2 and 3. Was on the roof of the valve chamber.

I'm looking for a good engine supplier for a touring style engine. Who do you all know? Or recommend?

Has anybody used a new oil pump from any of the suppliers? The are all listed as import, not sure if they are any good. I need a new oil pump, mine is an early unit. I'd rather replace it with a better flowing later unit. Thanks fellas!
