    engine oil pump

Purdy, Thanks for the reply and that was my concern about using a gasket too. Plus the Champion W18 plugs you advised in a different thread are doing great although I haven't pulled them yet to check the insulator color but, is running great so far. Also, my head gasket replacement seems good...

    engine oil pump

My engine number in my 1929 Model A is A2027757 so the engine is July 1929. I wanted to change the oil pump screen so I removed it. My screen cover is peened on as stated earlier but I could still remove the screen. When I look at the parts catalog I see a lower plate gasket which my pump...

    What is this collar for?

Maybe an optical illusion but it looks close to nut securing battery cable. Don't get a ring between the two or it will be a painful way to lose a finger! OUCH

1929 Four Door Rear Oval Dome Cover

Does anyone make new plastic rear oval dome covers? I need one for a 1929 four door leather back. All the used ones are very pricey and I haven't found any new ones. Thanks

    29 Model A Running Bad

Sorry, the following note was intended for Purdy Swoft and not Cory, When I bought my A it had Autolite 3076 plugs which had carbon covered insulator after a short period of time so I rebuilt the Zenith Carb. Even though the passage in the new compensation jet appeared to be smaller than the...

    29 Model A Running Bad

Cory, When I bought my A it had Autolite 3076 plugs which had carbon covered insulator after a short period of time so I rebuilt the Zenith Carb. Even though the passage in the new compensation jet appeared to be smaller than the standard number 19 jet, it didn’t eliminate the carbon on the...

    29 Model A Running Bad

Cory, I have had a bad condenser which would short out but, this one checks out fine. Thanks

    29 Model A Running Bad

It must be oil or antifreeze because gasoline would have evaporated by now. Plus that would be a lot of gas from an updraft carb system. I'll check it again tomorrow but hard to believe the head gasket isn't sealing plus I looked for cracks and didn't see anything. Are there certain areas in the...

Yes, I have thermal cycle the engine and the head nuts needed re-torqueing to 55 Ft. lbs. but OK on recent checks.

    Head Gasket Sealing Coolant Holes

I put one of the red silicone ones on my A and the silicone profile didn't stay between the block and head but ran into some of the passage areas. If the silicone isn't sandwiched between the head and block what good can it do?

    29 Model A Running Bad

My Model A was running well but I kept losing coolant so, I replaced the head gasket and all was well. But, after maybe 40 miles it started running bad, back firing through the exhaust. I remove the plugs and noticed that when looking through the spark plug holes all cylinder areas looked wet...

Leaking Model A Premium Head Gasket

Sorry, I forgot to state that the block and head machined faces which the gasket is between were each within .003in flatness. Snyder did send me a Copper Head Gasket free of charge. Thanks

Leaking Model A Premium Head Gasket

Brent, I assume by level your asking if the two surfaces were parallel when torqued in sequence and yes they were. The Ra of the block and head mating surfaces I would estimate at 125. The folks at Snyder agree that the silicone profile around the center passage is not correct. Thanks
