Shim is used between starter case and bell housing. Supposed to help resolve a stuck bendix up against ring gear.

Having trouble every now and then with a stuck starter, I've filled any burrs off the ring gear. I sometimes can start and drive for months without any problem, then it then it sticks again. I've got a paper shim in now and I'm down to my last one in stock. Would like to try a metal shim to see...

Bendix hangs up on ring gear. Thought I resolved it by adding a shim. Drove the car on a one week tour and never had any problems. Tonight went on a 15 mile dive, stopped for supper and of course tonight it hung up. With the limited tools I had with me I got it unbolted, but it usually won't let...

Yes, you are absolutely right on the contacts. My original sockets the springy thing flopped to the side and would short out . It took many tries to figure it out. I actually installed new sockets and the problem went away.

Ok, now that it's hard wired, I have another question. I've replaced the lamps with new ones and just wonder why the park lamps removed were 6v 21cp and what the supplier's are now selling is a 6v 3cp lamp.

Having difficulty getting a good tight connection from the conduit to the head light plug coming from the lamp housing. Installed new two lamp wire harnesses and it appears the dimples on the ferrules​ aren't latching. Is it possible to hard wire and maintain an original appearance?,

Think I just discovered my problem, the parts book show a bracket part no. A17798 which looks like will take up the gap. Just cut the eyelet off!

Mine is a pressed steel type and measures 28 and 3/4 inches. The rear bumper brackets measure 29 and 1/4 inches creating a gap. When tightened it distorts and pulls everything out of alignment. My bumper is a single one piece which isn't a problem. It's when the luggage rack is mounted it's not...

My bumper cross bar seams too short, when tightened it distorts the two bumper arms. The dimension between the the two arms is 29 and 1/4 inches and the bar is much narrower. What to do?
