    1938 Ford Coupe 60 HP

You could use the new driveshaft, if you replaced the center brg in the torqe tube. Skip Haney makes a "kit" to replace the brg and repair the surface of the shaft itself. You will have to knock the brg out of the old torqe tube. Original "Ford" are very hard to find and very $$$$$$$$$.

Doing King pins on the 38 tudor 82A Need the tool

Re: A few things I want to address on the 38 tudor For those who like motorcycles and old cars, years ago at Hershey a fellow had a "steam" powered motorcycle. Maybe some else remembers it. They named it "Loco."

    Bad weekend

Sir, you are lucky to walk away from that one. It only takes a second and things can get really bad.

    Holley 94 rebuild

Is it possible to chromate carbs at home? Where do you get the kit or buy the necessary chemicals to do this?

    49-53 mercury rods

If you have a Merc crank is sized and uses the early rods, I would carry it to a machine shop and have the stroke verified. If it has the early rod size jornals it has been "stroked," your 4" pistons will not work in that combinaton.

    Fort Wayne Clutch

If you are that deep into your project, I'd consider replacing the flywheel ring gear also. It would be easier now than when every thing is reassembled. The old "one and done situation."

Better not let Gavin hear that....................

    16" Wide 5 drum replacement

You will still need the correct studs for the rear hubs. The "Green" Ford parts book will have the correct part number; it is 91D-XXXX for the 3/4 ton 122" trucks. Be patient, they can be hard to find.

59 Block Oil Pump and Pan Compatibility

The oil pan shown in the posters first post is a 46-48 59 series pan. The pan is one piece with an attached "bell housing." I would look for an oil pump and screen to fit that pan.

    What grease do you use?

With an original Model A being 95+ years old, you have to wonder how many owners your car has had and the different greases and oils used over that time period. That does not the "wrench holders" like me that have "worked" on them.

    pressure plate specifications

I was able to buy a Borg and Beck [Merc style] pressure plate from my local rebuilder. He said that some fork lifts still use that style pressure plate. Check with your local rebuilder.

    Jack stand recommendation

I don't like crawling under a car with only jack stands supporting it. If I have room, I put a floor jack under the front or rear axle, just touching them. Life is short, I don't like taking chances.

    Dual Point Distributor Plate 1949-51

It always amazes me how much stuff people buy and put back to "use" one day. I realize that I am not the only one that does it. Some really neat stuff has survived all these years.

    50-53 Mercury Flahead ID

Until it is measured or "pulled apart" no one will no exactly what is in it.
