    Cheapest (best value) Tires

I bought a set of 4 Universal tires, and I had a heck of a time mounting them on my 29 pickup. They were stiff and wouldn't stretch over the rim. I chipped the new powder coating paint job on the wheels. Also the tires always look dirty. The rubber is not black and I can't find a coating that...

    Wheel nuts

I haven't had any problems with my new lug nuts, but I did notice the studs when pressed into new cast iron drums, didn't have threads going all the way down to the drum. This could cause the nut running out of thread before tightening the wheel to the drum.

    Wheel bearing preload

I have always taken the advice of a good mechanic many years ago that has served me well . Tighten the nut up tight to make sure bearing races are positioned, then back off and bring back to snug. With a large screwdriver, pry the washer that is under the nut and adjust the nut until the washer...

reproduction 1931 two door sedan fenders

I put new fenders on my 1929 pickup a year ago. I was pretty happy with the fit although there was some tweaking involved. The fender braces needed bent a little and the light bar holes needed drilled and fitted. Those were the to major issues. The rest was mainly reaming holes or drilling new...

    Tig welding door panel questions

I should mention that I used the panel bonding glue as Kurt mentioned, on my doors. I crimped the new patch panel, and the original lays in the crimp part. The glue is two part epoxy and was put on the seam after I drilled holes about ever four inches. I then bolted it together with tiny bolts...

    Tig welding door panel questions

I repaired the doors on my 29 closed cab two years ago and had to cut about 6 inches of completely rusted out material off the bottom of each door. I bought inner and outer patch panels. The hard part is getting the contour of the door to fit the contour of the cab. I made cardboard templates of...

    Valve Spring

I'm thinking that something isn't quite right, as it should be an easy process. Make sure the guides are installed long end up. The short end is towards the cam. If you have the adjuster style cam followers, screw the adjusters in as far as they will go. Now the springs should go in there place...

    Houdaille disassembly

Thanks guys for the help! I'm Thinking there is a gasket type seal under this cap/reservoir that is hanging up in a groove that won't let it come off. So I will put it in my kiln at about 400 degrees for a couple of hours and see if that won't burn that seal out, as it says to do in the post...

    Houdaille disassembly

Yes, these do have the waffle design in the base. I understand this is for cooling the shock?

    Houdaille disassembly

I have a couple of Houdaille shocks that do not have the lock ring that locks reservoir cover on. I have soaked them in carburetor cleaner for several days, used heat on it and can't get it off, It is loose but will not come off. Can someone give some insight as to how this can is attached and...

    Valve Installation Question

If the exhaust seats are in good shape and have been recently ground, you could probably get by with lapping them in, but if the seats are too wide or of questionable condition , probably not. The oversize intake seats will have to be ground to fit the larger valves.Your three angle valve job...
