    3-3/8” tach for 36 5w

Re: 3-3/8” tach for 36 5w Curious if you ended up installing your tach and where you ended up installing it (radio spot or ?) What tach did you end up going with?

The 37 is back in action - Pops would be proud

Pops purchased this car (his first antique) in 1975. As there was no back seat, my brother and I used to ride around in the trunk (it’s cavernous back there!). Thanks to Ken, we got her running again after a 5 year hiatus last June. I’m a huge believer on Stabil BTW as all we needed was a...

    Ignition Issues, Crab distributor

Was having issues with my 37. Thought it was carb / fuel pump related, but it may have been intermittent spark from my corroded rotor tab. Popped off the crab style dist cap and noticed soot on rotor tab and greenish corrosion on underside of crab dist cap. Cleaned up both and (fingers...

    Mercury Down

Nothing worse than the sound of a wheel bearing heading “south”…especially when you have some place to go. Similar to your experience, I needed to get my 2 rear bearings changed before traveling just over 1,800 miles & back to Springfield, IL in June. Guys did a great job and we made it there...

I would like to nominate this particular thread to be a “Sticky” so it’s always near the top of the Early V8 discussion thread.

    1941 6v generator only charge's 6.1 volt

Update on my situation… Installed new Voltage Regulator & performed polarity test (touched Field wire to Bat terminal and saw sparks) Went for a drive & noticed very little (+) movement on ammeter gauge, Used digital voltmeter & observed the following readings: Battery readings at terminals...

    1941 6v generator only charge's 6.1 volt

I’ll be taking both my generator and voltage regulator to a local expert. If either (or both) need replacement and/or rebuilding, he’ll do it. I’ll also be assured the polarity is correct as they will be paired up together prior to reinstalling. For me, it’s more about piece of mind and...

What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

New tires were ordered from Coker. BFGoodrich Silvertown Radial | 2.50 Inch Whitewall | 215/75R15 Old tires were from 2003 per the date code. I’d say they were overdue.

What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

Love post 241 as I’m about to have the generator on the 37 Ford rebuilt & possibly a new voltage regulator. Found out the hard way the battery didn’t seem to be charging. For the 1953 Merc, I managed to get new tires installed today. Car rides beautifully and “feels” like it has power steering...

EFV8 Club 2025 Central National Meet

Ken, Thank you for all of your hard work in preparing / hosting this meet. I’m registered & paid up already. I’ll be spending the next few months doing some prep work on the Merc.

    1941 6v generator only charge's 6.1 volt

A friend (thanks Ken) forwarded this thread to me today and it came in very handy. Performed the test in post 6 above & determined my 12V generator is not working. No deflection noticed on the gauge even after revving up the engine several times.

First time poster... with a couple of questions.

I’m new to this Forum as well but have throughly enjoyed reading this thread. Lots of great suggestions. I too have been waiting (fuel pump in my case) to get my Dad’s 37 Ford coupe back on the road.

What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

My first post as a friend referred me to this forum! I replaced the ballast resistor & coil on my 37 Coupe late Sunday and took her for a great test drive yesterday.
