One wire connects to the center stud on the starter solenoid, the other to ground. Been using one of these for 60 years.

I have driven tens of thousands of miles on Coker tires with four Early V-8s, ranging from a '36 Roadster to a '51 Mercury. Very happy with Coker tires. I realize that many people have complaints, but I'm betting many more are happy with Coker tires and keep buying them Ken

The person I was responding to has a 1941. Not the same situation as yours.

Battery? Aren't you just grounding the terminal on the solenoid? Why would you connect to the battery?
