As stated check your magneto output voltage. Use a analog meter on AC. If it's low you can charge the magnets in the car. I used the method using a compass and three car batteries in series. It worked OK.
A big thing with long pulls in low pedal is you tend to let up a little which can cause the bands to slip and all the negative effects of that. After driving a while you'll have a feel for the required pressure. I don't think of low pedal as a clutch but as a clamp. And yes we all belong to the...
To add a little here, we just finished a tour in the mountains where we pulled steep grades that required low pedal for several miles. One grade was 6 miles in low pedal with the Warford in low also. The guys with Ruckstells were in low also. They were rough dirt roads. I kept the motor at...
Buy the best car you can afford, then plan on going through every component over a winter. It's good to know what you really have. Outboard aux brakes are a must. One of my T's got new babitt in 1966, it's still good and I drive it a lot. Best of luck.
The cable has enough travel to two block the lever to the milled stop of the case. I pulled it down and everything inside looks good. The sprag clutch is in nice shape the gears have sharp edges, no metal floating around. The only thing I see is it looks like the lever isn't moving the sun gear...
I have a Borg Warner OD in my '29 Coupe that has stopped working in reverse. The cable is out and should be in direct. It worked when I got the car several months ago. More info, It is wired using the governor and the solenoid is a one wire type. It does have a relay which is a newer cube type...
The county road finally froze up so we made a break for it in the '31 A. I set my sister in law up with her own steering wheel so she felt in control, it is her car after all. Anyhow it's home and in the shop for PM.
Yes, it has the top, bows and side curtains all in great shape. He is also throwing in two carbs, a spare wheel and four new tires and tubes. Cleaning out all his "A" stuff.
Thought I'd post a couple of photos of the car in question. After sitting for 6 months it just fired right off. Have to wait for the ground to freeze again next week to get it out to the pavement to bring it home. The county road has 12 inch ruts in it and would swallow a tank right now.
I'm using two types, one is the spring loaded foam unit and the other has a casting that allows use of a K&N element. The K&N unit came on my speedster so I don't know where you can find one. The other is from Lang's.
