    steering sector housing

I just rebuilt mine. I replaced the sector and sector housing with an improved part that came with needle bearings and the upgraded seal. Works perfect. 300 miles and no leaks.

Another Steering Question - see Pictures p2

You can say that again! I've been an auto mechanic for 35 years, and only recently became involved in the Model A hobby. What a joy these things are! The Model A has without question renewed my faith in the automobile! :)

Another Steering Question - see Pictures p2

Sorry you did not like my answer...first, I was basing my statement on an otherwise normal steering system. Any worn balls or linkages, etc. could obviously cause interferance or binding. Second, I assume from your user name that you are a pilot. If you can envision how an aileron (sp?) is...

Another Steering Question - see Pictures p2

Re: Another Steering Question I understand your question! I too was/am able to turn the wheels one way but not the other by grasping the tires with them off the ground. Simply put: With a steering design such as this, it should be difficult - if not impossible - to turn the wheels in either...

    Steering Column/Horn Wiring Question

X2..... This is why your lights did not work! It had nothing to do with the "C" clip! Re-install the "C" clip properly and index the switch properly (so the spider tabs line up with the corresponding holes in the switch). Do it right and be done with it! :) I just went through this very same...

    Starter button

Thank you! My situation is similar to Muttley's. No disrespect to the heritage of the marque, but this type of mod is useful AND reversible.

    Starter button

Back in the early 40's, my father & grandfather modified their Model A in a similar fashion. A starter solenoid-type system was considered a beneficial upgrade back then. It was for those times when more than two feet were required to manipulate all those pedals (such as starting on a hill...

What did I break and how did I fix it?

Here's my two cents: Sometimes through the process of troubleshooting (or even fiddling around), one will actually "fix" something without any explanation. This happens on occasion in my field as an auto technician. There was likely a poor contact issue that you inadvertantly corrected when you...

    Speedometer Drive

I just did this myself last week. I used 4 gaskets to get to the "sweet spot"... I kinda had to go by feel more than anything. I'm sure that there is a more technical and correct procedure, but it worked for me. Should I ever remove the trans, I will definitely re-do it on the bench to get it...

    intermitten overheating

Interesting.... How/where is it installed? Is there a special housing that needs to purchased along with it? I'm assuming it would install at the top of the head at the water outlet? Thanks for any details!

    Rear float-a-motor install pics

Hi, new guy here... I'm going to install a rear float-a-motor kit and the instructions are only so-so. Can anyone post some pics of the unit installed? I'm especially interested in the orientation of the U-shaped bracket and rubber block....Thanks! Great site! I should have ended the header...

Am I to understand that these engines do not use a thermostat? So far my research suggests no....Thanks
