    Thinking about investors.

I don't think the average guy has any idea of the complexity of the cores required for a V-8. I got to watch hundreds formed and poured at Cleveland and the process is amazing. The cores are made from a different sand and have different qualities than the rest of the mold. The placement and how...

    Insert bearings

So my take from this is if the inserts need to be fit by machining then the advantage of having inserts so they can be changed out quickly just got thrown out the window.

    Jet Flow Rate Testing Rig..

Mike makes a very good point. If you use a larger volume and then divide you will get a far better reading. The starting, stopping, and timing can all induce errors.

    Flowing Jets

When I did my jets, after soldering the end shut I used a drill bit on the inside of the jet, larger than the intended jet hole to clean out and smooth the inside before using the proper bit to size the jet. Also after sizing the jet. You can look at the water flow and see when you have a good...

Kind of a Model A question

I've got a 12 volt winch I'm trying to get rid of. If you weren't so far I'd send it to you. I suspect it will cost a lot for shipping because of the weight.

Google Remflex. If you have a driver and not a show car this is the best I could find.

First post - opinions on suspension and braking

See if you can find a local club for some help. It might surprise you how little it needs to make it drive able.

    High speed engine skip

James, a quick and dirty trick to try. Put a glove on your left hand, with the engine running rev it up, stick your left hand over the carb. intake and pull it off just before it dies. Try this a couple times and then see if it runs better. Sometimes if there is something in the carb. you can...

    Transmission question

Could be a number of things other than the trans. How fast is your idle set at, how heavy is the trans. oil, is the clutch adjusted for the right amount of pedal? You need a heavy oil to slow the gears down, maybe a good time to drain, perhaps flush and refill?

    Distributor to spark plug connections

Bend them slightly so there is a slight force pushing towards the plug and they will stay put. Never saw one come off before and I used to drive a lot of gravel roads.

    cleaning block w/o head on

I would not add the 2-3 cups and drive it see if it stays. That was the first mistake I made when I bought my Model A, trying to keep it too full.

    knock at start up

Have you checked the water pump? After rebuilding my transmission I got a knock. Figured it had to be the transmission so I pulled the rear end and trans out. Couldn't find anything so I started it up, still knocked. Found out the water pump was making the noise.

    31 distributor

OK< so it was running but stalled when you stopped. Seems you should be looking at carb float first??

No need to worry Tom, in a few years we won't need to drive, they will all drive themselves. "What me worry"

    know your shipper

I don't call that a scam at all. Buyer beware, sometimes a price that is too good, is just that too good!
